FIVE SCENES JKR'S EDITOR CUT FROM "HALF-BLOOD PRINCE"

Harry walked in the Great Hall, looking for the one person he thought could help him. He'd had the oddest sensations for weeks and weeks, almost like terrible heartburn, an odd gnawing feeling deep in his abdomen. He really didn't know what it was, but he had a hunch.
"Hermione!" he said, spotting a bushy head of hair and sitting down across from her at the Gryffindor table. "I have a problem."
"Go ahead, Harry," she said, setting aside her copy of "The Daily Prophet" and giving him her full attention.
"I... I think..." He paused, not wanting to sound stupid. "I think I have a monster inside of me."
She stared at him, looking thoughtful. "A monster?"
"Yeah, a monster."
She unceremoniously got up from her bench and went around the table, coming to stand directly behind him. She thumped him twice on the back, hard. He burped. Out flew a small Muppet, which ran up towards the high table and was quickly hexed by Snape.
"Whoa!" said Harry, rubbing his Adam's apple. "That was weird. Thanks, Hermione!"
"No problem, Harry," she said, walking back around to her side of the table with a small smile.

Ron was sick of the bullshit.
"Hermione," he said, "Will you go out with me?"
She gave him an appraising look over "An Appraisal of Modern Apparition Techniques."
"Yes."
He grinned openly, glad to have five years of petty bickering out of the way. She smiled back at him.

Harry stared at the newly acquired piles of gold in his Gringotts account that Sirius Black had left him.
"You know," he said to Ron and Hermione, "I think maybe Lupin should have most of this. Seeing as how he knew Sirius most of his life and they were best friends or perhaps more and he's kinda poor and everything."
They both had to agree.

Harry was suddenly reminded of a question he wanted to ask Lupin.
"What could cause someone's Patronus to change?"
Lupin took his time chewing his turkey and swallowing before saying slowly, "Well, pining after, old, gay werewolves, mostly..."

Harry mourned Sirius's death.
