i think what really grinds my gears about prop 8 is the reasoning behind it - claiming to "protect" children from homosexuality, and prevent churches from getting sued.
i feel that legislation like this demonizes homosexuality, makes being gay into this big scary specter of "perversion" that's going to somehow take over the country.
prop 8 and its supporters reduce being gay to being something less than human. that's why i'm so pissed, and that's why i tend to draw comparisons between this and civil rights. in 1958 and earlier, black people were godless monkeys. now it's gay people. what next?
I totally agree. We should not be basing laws on the religious right's demands, and if we do, we should tax the churches, that's my stand point
