I finished Notes on a Scandal by Zoe Heller and enjoyed it far more than I expected to. Barbara sort of reminded me of Mrs Danvers, only how she would have behaved when Rebecca was still alive.

The dentist went surprisingly well. He thinks I'm going to need three fillings and has booked me in for this Tuesday. Considering that it's been fifteen

This reminded me that I haven't read Notes on a Scandal yet, even though I've been meaning to for god knows how long. The Mrs Danvers comment has made me want to read it even more now. =]

You should give it a go! It takes you a while to realise it, but Barbara is really quite creepy.

Glad that the dentist went well for you.
I put my hands up to being absolutely petrified of the dentist. The other half is persisting I go as soon as possible due to one of my teeth being broken. It's been like it for years and because I cannot see it and it doesn't hurt, I just ignore it.

However, i'm getting concerned now. Perhaps if they agree to knock me out, i'll go! Hehe. x
