I apologise for being such a terrible lj friend lately. My excuse is that it's been an insanely busy couple of months, and it's only just started to ease up.
Starting with the bad thing:
- My grandad had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully it was only a minor one, but as he's 81 and not in the best of health everyone was terrified. It was particularly difficult for my mum because she had the flu and couldn't visit him. He's out of hospital and home for Christmas.
And the rest:
- The insane amount of reading and research I'm doing for uni is paying off. I was in the top three in the class for the first assignment, which I'm very proud of.
- I went to the Cheshire Prize for Literature awards evening and had a lot of fun (the speaker turned out to be Tim Firth, who was very funny). Got ever so slightly lost in Chester and missed the train home by five seconds, but as I was in good company I didn't mind.
- I had a wonderful couple of days in York with a couple of my friends. If anyone visits, I highly recommend The Original Ghost Walk.
- After a few weeks of near constant blinding headaches, I decided to be sensible and visit an optician. I'm now the proud owner of a funky pair of reading glasses.
- Thanks to a lot of stuff happening all at once, my last assignment before Christmas had to be written in a hurry at the last minute. Three thousand words in three days, and I had no real idea of what I was writing about.
It's a couple of days early, but happy Christmas!
