Satellite feeds are a great way to revisit all the places you wished to travel in a city that you'd kill to forget.
I just followed Rock Rd. from 7907 E. Champions Ct. to everywhere that I ever cared to go when I lived in Wichita. It was hard; I had trouble remember the names of streets. But after I spent about 10 minutes trying to find EHS off of Douglas and some other fucking street (Grove), everything came back.
Earlier in the evening, I left an away message that referenced Wichita. A friend of mine here responded, "who needs Wichita when you have us?" A good question, but I need Wichita. I love everyone I've met here; they are very dear to me. But UCLA will never be home like Wichita is.
So here's my plan: when I get back, will someone lend me their car so I can just drive? I'd start from my house, see if I could find any trace of Muhan in the area, go to Kurt's house, Jimmie's would be next, Northrock Theaters, then 96 East to the Warren (right?), visit Brian's house, go to Ivy's house (where I would remember our last homecoming of senior year), drive down Kellog (I think) to that Barnes & Noble where we always used to study, visit John's house, drive to Beibei's house, visit the airport, stop off to say hello to my mom's old nurses at the Wichita Clinic, head back up, stop off at Chinh's house, spend far too much time at East, see if I could get a free rose from that one place, stop off at Chipotle for lunch, greet Kay (my dad's old nurse) at the other Wichita Clinic, wander the halls of Wesley Medical Center and see what new things they have, finally play that piano on....(shit which floor? 8 Tower?) in building 4, go back to East, then waste time in College Hill like I always used to, visit Christine's house (and thank her mom for those delicious cookies), go see Mel's house, visit Mr. Riney if I hadn't yet, and I know Spangles would be in here somewhere, head over to Robinson and marvel at how small the halls are, go to WSU and park anywhere and remember Youth Symphony operas tennis Science Olympiad Mathcounts and those fucking standardized tests, drive back over to Bradley Fair(e?), push someone into the fountain, walk around the pond only to remember that it smells like shit, finally swim over to that island and claim it to be mine (maybe sing something from Carmen on it), visit Sumaiya's house and see her mom (but not Sumaiya; she doesn't seem to miss me), go to John's house and play Age of Empires, head up north again, visit my old house in Penstemon, go to Spangles and just order large fries and play whatever the hell I wanted from those greasy-ass jukeboxes, go back to my old house, lie on the green of the 18th hole in my old backyard, and make a note to do everything I forgot to do in that first day (included on this list is go to Century II, the library, and that one parking complex with the amazing view).
Nothing would make me happier.
