Last Saturday I accompanied myself and sang a musical number in front of a live audience, a piece which I: a) just learned and b) rewrote the lyrics in the second verse. AND I didn't fall down during any part of it.

Didn't realize you rewrote the 2nd verse only. Makes better sense - people *get* the jokes after they've heard the 1st verse (duh, on my part).
