My second response to the Daddy Drabble challenge...

The day he’d walked out on his family he’d made a vow to himself that when he became a father he would correct all the mistakes that his father had made with him. That he would be a better man, at least in the eyes of his child.
Somehow he had forgotten his own vow, but he knew that he would never have that chance.
He would never be a father, and he would never be a better man than his father. But at least he was a stronger one, and with that knowledge he faced up to his mistakes.
