the other day they ran three segments on top of each other. the first was that the CDC has no idea how many vials of infection diseases (like smallpox and anthrax etc) are in the united states. the second one was that some may be missing or stolen from the CDC. and then the third was that President Bush has written something that allows torture to the extreme in the case of terrorists. I was just shocked. I thought "wow! I'm watching FOXNEWS" and lol'd.

Thoughts:
- The fact that nuclear reactors are extremely unsafe can be shown by their North American death toll of exactly ZERO since their inception.
- New Hampshire has a "major fault line" running through it?
- I'm no expert (and at least I can admit that) but I've heard that nuclear reactors are designed to withstand a jet crash. Of course, the WTC was too, but I haven't looked at any of the risk studies floating around so I'll reserve comment.
- The US really needs to stop being afraid of a little plutonium and go ahead and start recycling nuclear waste already.
- What's the progress on Yucca mountain? There was a lot of political talk about it a few years ago, but it seems to have stalled. It would be nice to have permanent long-term storage for the waste that we can't recycle before we increase our nuclear energy production too much.

it's funny, I was just having a conversation about all of your points with a coworker earlier in the week...the containment building on nuclear reactors is meant to sustain a jet crash, and tests have been done...as for Yucca Mountain, I'll be honest and I'm not sure what the status is...you're right, there was a big stink about it a few years back, but since then I haven't heard anything....

The retards rule this world. Your only hope is to hook up with NASA, get put in space, and refuse to come back.

My favorite part of the article is the justification of other "clean" power sources. Wind farming and utilization of solar cells is great, assuming it's windy and sunny all the time. In my world (northern Virginia) there are 10-12 hours a day where you don't see the sun at all. We call it "night-time" here. Every now and then it gets kind of windy, so I can see why you would want to rely on it for constant power. I am not charging my laptop on rays of sunshine.

It is interesting if you think about the article this way. I do not have a degree in country music. I do have a degree (degrees) in nuclear engineering. Will the US's energy situation and general well-being suffer if I go out there and protest country music? Albeit, I know nothing about the topic other than it bothers me, and I hear according to some study, that it will end up killing more people than earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes combined? Outrageous. We must stop this genre before it kills more innocent people.
