I love Tecfidera! Also is anyone taking Ampyra?

I posted a few weeks ago that I was starting Tecfidera (I think it was BG-12 in studies). I am in week 4 and have been on the full dose since week two. I have had very minimal side effects. I had diarrhea a couple of days but can not tie it to the Tec for sure as I also was a bit dehydrated. No flushing or any of the other things they warn about. ( Read more... )

I'm not taking Tecfidera but I'm interested in your experience. Glad it's going well for you. What do you mean by 'the alternative' to a cane?

I would rather have to be using a cane to a scooter or wheelchair as long as possible. Sure it won't be the end of the world but I'll put it off as long as I possibly can. For now at least I can walk with the help of my DH and my cane as long as it is not long distance. I am also going to start riding the exercise bike to keep my legs reminded that they are expected to work.

I hope all this goes well for you. You know, don't you, that having a wheelchair doesn't mean being forced to use it all the time. At home I furniture-walk and wall-walk. Even at work I occasionally stand up and enjoy people's confusion. But I've learned to love my wheelchair because it lets me sit down! So liberating.
