Well, another weekend behind us, and the longest day of the week is here. I had a really excellent weekend, out and about and visiting and getting stuff either done or started.
Friday night, the inestimable
uberanalyticaland I went and saw the Bell Shakespeare production of Romeo and Juliet. Thanks to some nifty interweb work on the side of my beloved we managed to score tickets in the second row back from stage, dead centre. Absolutely awesome, with the show being stolen by a fantastic and hilarious performance of Mercutio.
Saturday morning was suit fittings for the wedding, which went well - the monkey suits are now all picked out and ready for the hiring. Saturday afternoon my betrothed and I journeyed out to the lovely nuwishas_tail & Kirily's place in Box hill to watch a demonstration of cooking wares. We managed to (barely) escape with not buying anything, before heading home to retrieve the fabulous Miss Claire from her Gran's.
Mr Liamski, also soon to be known as my best man, returned to our place for the evening (after visiting that morning along with tobermorywomble for the suit fitting, then departing to pick up a new 'poota. Mmm...shiny) for an evening of X-box and other general shenanigans. We ended up watching Conan The Barbarian with the commentary on and all I can say is that that's 2 and a half hours of entertainment right there, if, for no other reason, only to hear hear Ahnold doing an impersonation of Dino De Laurentis. Trust me, it's worth it. Champagne Comedy!
Sunday I went for the last ride on my Motorcycle before it goes into storage for six months, whilst my license goes on holiday at the pleasure of her majesty's constabulary. That was ace, as the weather was perfect (crisp, but not too cold) and the roads were lovely and dry. I ended up heading out the back of Warrandyte, lots of hills, lots of scenery and, most importantly, lots of corners. Was very happy when I climbed off afterwards, even though my knees felt like rusty hinges.
After that, it was off to Northcote to visit the lovely givemethegun, who I hadn't seen in person for nigh on two years - a fact which was really bought home to me when she expressed surprise at my lack of hair - which has now been lacking for 18 months at least. She kindly gave me a keyboard as part of her scheme to take as little crap as possible when she emigrates to the states - it will see good service either in a Jean Michael Jarre-esque keyboard stack in the study, or as a keyboard practice tool for Miss Claire when she starts keyboard lessons later this year.
And Sunday evening, I finally started in on the inch thick stack of notes for the Tour De America - coming soon to an LJ near you...
