The venerable ELPH s100, whom has served me so well for so many years, bringing joy to the hearts some, has finally begun to bite the big one of retirement. Indeed, perhaps taking it canoeing, even wrapped and double wrapped in the heartiest of ziploque bags, was a move of poor merit on my part. 5 years of excellent service, for the bargain used

I love these photos, honey. P.S. Can we buy that old train and make it into a house?

So, all we have to do is kill it.

I'll bring the shovel, then.
No, really. We should live in one of those.

And thank you! I think I will!

And... is that a digital, or do you only work old school? I am the amateur-est of photo amateurs, but I have a much harder time properly adjusting a digital camera than a basic film-type.

It is indeed a digital, because I've had precisely the opposite problem. I've tried to learn-myself-up-good some SLR knowledge, but can't get a decent photo out of a manual SLR to save my life. I have a few medium format pics that turned out ok, but I think that was by virtue of using a fine-arse camera with a huge lens.
So, I usually take a shot in Super Easy I-can't-mess-it-up Mode, and then try to squeeze what I'm really after out of it by taking it again in manual mode (and again, and again, until I get it right). I have much to learn.

does that big thing on the front go bye bye? that would drive me nutty. But the camer a body is sexay and the photos look grrreat!

Yes, the lens hood does store nicely on the lens itself, or even better in the case, away from the action. It's really only usefull or necessary when shooting outdoors... and I tested it today against work's very very sexy camera, and the hood helps a lot to reduce sun glare/flare.
And thanka you!

But as far as the real-deal digital SLR, they're still not priced for normal people yet, this is a step down from those big pants cameras. It's a 36mm to 462mm lens, but the lenses are not interchangable. 12x zoom with good anti-shake medicine built in, so hopefully I'll be able to get some far off goodness with this baby.
