It's killing me this time too :P lol
Surprising how different they can be.
Pffft that's not fair at all. It really isn't. Just ignore your mum, you're the one who fills out the Birth certificate, and she will have to get over it, tell her to get a pet and name the pet Lucy or something, lol.
My parents never wager in on our name choices, well they didn't with Brodie. Kyle's mother however gave me a list of like a zillion rules with naming, how you can't name your child, say Christopher, and then call them Chris it's stupid to shorten names, you should just name them that name. Ummm ok thanks, my name is Jessikah after all...
I mean Brodie isn't a name you commonly abbreviate, but i do, i call Brodie, Brod, or Brodz or Brodster. Kyle doesn't like that i do but eh, suck it up, we're Aussies, showrtening names is what we do.

You mum needs to realise this is your life, you have to live with the name on a daily basis so it's important you like it moreso than her. And she'll get over it.
Goodluck today!!!

Thanks. Well our little man is named Brocklan but we call him Brock. We wanted to name him just Brock but it sounded funny when put with our last name....Brock Boakes. Just sounds short and sharp so we added the extra part to make it flow easier but we still use Brock most of the time anyway :)

Yeah ikwym, Kyle's last name is so short we won't consider first names that are shorter than Brodie's lol. Otherwise it just looks, short, too short.

i couldn't help but laugh when you said she bought stuff with the name lucy on it. I would laugh in my mother's face if she did something like that, same if it were my boyfriend's mom. it's out of line and also yours and your husband's decision, not hers!

how far along are you? Have you got a baby name book or otherwise there are websites with endless lists of baby names. good luck =]

Thank you :)
Yeah she did....but that's my mum for ya. She makes me feel so bad sometimes, like this will be a never ending bitch fest now. She will literally not talk to me if I call her something other than Lucy.....like grow up!! I wanna name her Scarlett now just to really get up her goat :) Like we don't even know what the sex is anyway!!!

I actually don't really like any of those names....except for Riley. And Abbie is cute too but it wont go well with our last name.
