Fark, Cyclone Yasi is now a category five. Stay safe, North Queensland.

I hope your friend is okay. I have a few friends up there too, and one of my friends from Perth is due to move to Townsville on the weekend! :/ It looks like a monster.

Apparently my friend had been trying to get on a flight to come back here but couldn't so now she's stuck. She's freaking out.

Monster doesn't even begin with it! I was looking at the comparisons and it is meant to be slightly smaller than Katrina but much more powerful winds, more rain etc.

I am slightly jealous that they get cool weather but I don't think I want a Cat 5 cyclone.

I hope your friends stay safe as well!

It must just be so scary. I saw a comparison pic between Yasi, Cyclone Larry (which hit Qld in 2006, destroyed a town and most of Australia's banana crops), and Cyclone Tracy (generally considered Australia's worst cyclone in recent history, basically flattened Darwin), and it is SO MUCH BIGGER.

It looks really scary.

I hope the category gets lower before it reaches land.
