Not sure what I think of the episode in general, but I thought the performances from the guest actors were great.

yeah their throwing the whole should sam forgive dean or not in our faces without them having a serious talk without fighting first. Yeah the performaces by the guest actors were good.

I really don't have a lot of confidence that the writers are going to confront the issues properly. Ed actually modelled the way Dean should be handling this, by acknowledging wrong doing and asking "how can I make this right? What do you need from me?" and I'll rejoice if Dean winds up following his example, but I'm afraid, with the introduction of this veil business, that it's going to go the other way and it's just going to boil down to Sam's qestion "what's the upside of me being alive?" and it's going to wind up with Dean pointing at the positives and going "there! see!" and Sam going "oh, all right, yeah, I suppose you were right". But he wasn't. What Dean did - just by itself - was wrong, regardless of his motives and regardless of any consequences that came of it, good or bad.

yeah the writers won't do a good job of confronting the issues. It just means that I will be reading a lot of fanfic where authors do actually confront the issues and dean actually gets it and then has to make things up to sam and earn his trust back.
