Blech.

This has been an unexpectedly stressful week. The stress is at least partially self-inflicted through procrastination, which is compounded by poor sleep due to guilt/stress over unfinished stuff and staying up too late because Mr. 42's working later so we eat dinner much later. Thankfully, I persevered and have begun the process of figuring out our ( Read more... )

Have fun on your get-away. It sounds like you've been very busy with all your many projects so you deserve a break.

I'm slightly nervous to be making our first bubble since stay-at-home orders happened, and also that I have no idea if the small town we'll be in bears any resemblance to my small hometown where there's a staggering percentage of virus skeptics. But honestly, you're right. I do need a break, and I know it'll be great once I'm there (and, the paranoiac in me whispers, past the 4 day average onset for symptoms after COVID-19 exposure...).

I know what you mean. In two weeks we are doing our annual FFF (Forced Family Fun) weekend here at our house for our four kids and their families. I'm looking forward to having everyone together, but I'm also a little nervous because: hey there's still a rogue virus on the loose out there. But all of us have been staying home and wearing masks if we do have to go out and doing all the sensible stuff we're supposed to.

And my oldest son suggested some loose rules that we should try to spend minimal time gathered inside the house, (three of the families will be staying in their campers in the yard so have their own personal space) do activities outside in yard or on the decks, etc. Have some hand washing spots outside, disinfectant & wipe things frequently, etc, etc.

So we'll all try to stay diligent and hope for the best, you do the same dearie and try to enjoy your get-away.

I think you're all taking sensible precautions for the FFF weekend, but yeah, I totally understand your nervousness. I think your eldest son has some very wise ideas for keeping things safe! It's just so hard when you're with people you love because the temptation for bear hugs is just so great.

There are just so many moving parts that I'm trying to keep in my brain right now, and it'll be nice to put those down and let someone else keep track of them. I cannot be done with this project too soon!

Take some spray disinfectant, and spray your vacation home. And then enjoy it very much.

It'll have been thoroughly cleaned the Friday before we arrive by a professional crew and then left to sit for a couple of days before any of us will be entering, so even if someone ill was in it the week before, viruses don't live long on surfaces. My in-laws arrive the day before we do and will likely do some cleaning, too.
