So last night, I did indeed submit the final bit of the musical script to all and sundry, which marks THE END of my contribution for theatre camp, though I will still of course be answering the emails of any students with questions about shooting their solo bits or who need cheerleading ( Read more... )

YESS!! AND I got the actual pay check in today's mail, just as JCA sent me and the composer a note saying in essence, "It's been amazing, thank you for everything you've done, and we've got it from here, so go have fun!"

I think I just might!

I'm just so relieved I didn't even try to add any additional writing (I did strongly consider it!). There was a crazy week in June where I was trying to join the kids for rehearsals 4 hours a week, record 3 projects for ProChoir, and waiting for the kids to submit their auditions for their chosen characters and fill in their characters' worksheets so I could adapt the draft of the first scene (which was drafted before I knew exactly which characters would be in it!). And then there was needing to write the closing scene in under 24 hours the week I had hours and hours of training at work and was trying to figure out how to open up the writing of the middle bits while still achieving tonal consistency ( ... )

Is this going to be published? Because it sounds FABULOUS. Or distributed to other churches for kids to perform? Episcopalian, yes? Or is this one Catholic?

I AM SO EXCITED THAT YOU GET TO HIT THE MOUNTAINS!!! Any fun hikes planned? Camping at all?

Presbyterians, this time! :D It'll be posted on YouTube at the very least, as well as at the church's website. It's up to the church if/how the script
and music will be be made available to others, and I'm fine with that. I'd be delighted, actually!

Oh yes, there will be plenty of hiking with the dogs (I suspect my in-laws will be pleasantly surprised by how much our short-legged dogs adore hiking) and possibly some kayaking, though no camping, as there are plenty of beautiful hikes a short drive away, and we have a comfy home base at the condo. My in-laws get up there a few times a summer, so they have favorite hikes and places to go. I haven't been up there during the summer in years and am happy to follow their lead! We might even venture as far as Yosemite, as it's a relatively short drive through the Tioga Pass. Though the last time we went, I remember that pass triggering the heck out of my acrophobia. And my MIL was scolding my FIL for driving too close to the edge, so it wasn't just me! LOL!
