Pleased. Not ecstatic, but definitely pleased.

I am pleased with Biden's choice for VP. It was the right move. In fact the only thing I don't particularly care for about the Democratic ticket is the candidate for President. In a not-sexist world, it would have been Elizabeth Warren, but we do not live in a not-sexist world. At least Biden had the good sense to take on an incredibly smart and ( Read more... )

I’m with you on Elizabeth and Kamala (and Kamala’s baggage). I’m driven up a wall when my fellow progressives say things like “Well, the Biden-Harris ticket is essentially no different from another 4 years of Trump-Pence, so I’m not voting.” I just think... WHAT PLANET ARE YOU LIVING ON?! They might not be my first choice, but it’s a fundamental change to depose a madman.

Also WHIPPED CREAM!!!!!

I’m now looking into this clinician’s book myself... thanks for pointing him out!

Oh yes, the dirtbag left (e.g., racist, sexist "progressives" who fancy themselves stoic philosophers but devolve into frothing trolls the moment a woman or person of color has the audacity to suggest that their "thought experiments" JUST MIGHT BE less relevant than other people's actual lived experience and maybe they should shut their mouths and listen to someone else for a change) has been out in force already. I want to slam heads against walls any time I see "Kamala is a cop." A LAWYER IS NOT A BLOODY COP YOU MOUTH-BREATHING TROGLODYTES. These are the same loony assholes that were screaming "HILLARY IS A LITERAL MURDERERRRRR" at the top of their lungs four years ago. I know they're being amplified by foreign troll farms precisely to sow division, but I also do know actual men who believe that shit. Makes you realize QAnon isn't the only batshit conspiracy theory out there ( ... )

Ooh... I’m so curious about these balance exercises now!

I’m way out of shape these days since I can’t hit up my yoga studio and my running turned into hiking, so I am feeling the difference vocally. I’ve been getting back into the movement groove, but my COVID 19 actually IS 19 pounds. YIKES.

Though he's a big pilates person, all of the exercises we did were basically getting us to notice what our bodies do and feel in re: each of the cranial nerves, and what few strengthening exercises (for things like the tongue and lips and head/neck) we did were isometric. So it's not fitness, per se, just being aware of your body and trying to get it to stop overcompensating for injury and habit.

I have actually been slightly more active since stay-at-home started because I'm walking the dogs for 1-2 hours in the evenings rather than jetting off to rehearsal. However, when I stay home, I drink more booze in the evenings. So I haven't lost any weight, but neither have I gained a great deal, so yay equilibrium-ish? I know my singing endurance is down (funny when you go from 4-7 hours of singing in a day to 1-2, if that...), but at least the work I've been doing on my technique has kept me in decent form. Thank you, new teacher with whom I had 3 lessons before all this started...

There's also nothing quite like the gross splattery sound it makes. I'm deeply fond! *sneakily adds a can of whipped cream to your next grocery order*

I'm glad he went with a smart woman with yes, baggage, but now a days, everyone's baggage is visible.

Celebratory whipped cream. I may need some.

The baggage I'm concerned about is likely to be currently covered up, which makes it particularly damaging if/when it comes to light. But yeah, it's such small potatoes compared to the blatant corruption currently on display that I'm trying not to worry.

I highly recommend celebratory whipped cream! Om nom nom nom nom!
