All I know is that Rajat works for Verizon and apparently the cell phone service is so bad from them that he uses Cingular.
As for downtown restaurants, hmm... anything in downtown proper usually shuts down during nights and weekends, unless it's on Main Street.
1. For Italian, I'd definitely go with Campizi's (between Main/Elm in the Stone Street Gardens area). 2. Mexican, of course there are the chain places like OTB in West End, or there's a place called Miguel's that's served taqueria style (at the counter) that has awesome food. I don't even know what street corner that's on, but it's near the Akard station, you may have seen it before. 3. For a steakhouse, try Dakota's if you want fancy, or Hoffbrau if you want unfancy. 4. Mediterranean food downtown is in a sad state since Izmir closed. Better to go to somewhere like Fadi's or Cafe Izmir, outside of downtown.
There is no desi food in downtown proper (read: walking distance), in fact the closest decent place is Roti Grill. :(
I have had t-mobile for almost three years and I have never had a problem. As for as resataurants, I am too stuffed with medication to think of any. :(
