She watches the world from a throne atop a castle. The people she is supposed to love-unconditionally, benevolently, irrationally-all look like ants and spiders, toy dolls she used to pay with as a child. The first word that comes to mind when she sees them in their masses and numbers is… expendable.
She supposes that was the point of trapping her high up in a tower.
If she remembered what it felt like to be amused, that’s what she would be-amused. They parade down below her, worship her with an ardent fervor that is more disturbing that flattering, praise her with words she hasn’t done anything to earn. They fight wars for her, commit massacres in her name, things she has never, ever asked for.
And as for herself? The most powerful figurehead in the world that cannot even destroy her own prison? She sits and waits patiently for when Death will mercifully stop her heart.
