Hey all,

My ex-coworker Shannon just called me, asking if I could name a few movies that my friends and I might be interested in seeing as a midnight movie at the Oxford (as a fundraiser for the Arthritis SocietyMidnight movies are fun, and it'll be after exams are over (probably on the 22nd, it sounds like), so it's be cool if a bunch of us could ( Read more... )

there are a few movies that do very well at midnight movies.

by far the best is the rocky horror picture show but the issue is trying to find a theatre that will play it (Empire will not).

another suggestion may be any cult film. Indiana Jones comes to mind (it hasn't played recently but was played at the Alfresco Film Festivo).

basically it comes down to that you need to find a target audience and then find a film for that audience..and then well advertise it to that audience. So you know there is going to be a very large Pagan confrence in May. If some how they could organize a showing of the DaVinci code or even the Wicker Man I could almost gaurentee you that they would sell.

Also the Wicker man its self is being remade so seeing the original may sell but its a controversal film.

another suggest is find out what is going on in the city (like the pagan confrence) and try and target that audeince. We did one a while back and there was a sci-fi festival in town. we showed Brave Heart and sold out because we targeted that audience.

I've seen Wizard of Oz with Dark Side of the Moon sell out the Oxford. Someone usually gets to play it at least once a year I think.

Rocky Horror Picture Show usually gets played on Halloween, not sure it'd be a good choice.

Probably any classic comedies (new or old) would do well. There are tons of film festival movies that would do well too, things like Run Lola Run, etc.

Frailty, Gates of Heaven, Amelie, There's Something About Mary, When Harry Met Sally, Being John Malkovich, High Fidelity... I could go on and on. ;)

Any specific type of movie? If you let me know when it is, I'll likely go whatever movie it is!
