So, I'm sure you all know by now that I'm notoriously hopeless when it comes to making decisions.
And, after years of staunch defiance, I'm finally trying to figure out what kind of cell phone/plan to get. A few of you seem to have a lot of cell phone experience under your belts, so I'm going to swallow my pride and ask for advice.
I'm leaning toward getting the Motorola V710 or the Samsung A950 through Telus (neither of which can I afford, so I don't exactly have my heart set on them yet). I think I might go the "Pay As You Go" route, since I'm hoping to leave the country next year (I mean it this time) and I'm not exactly the talk-on-my-cell-for-hours type. If I got a contract, the phones would be a couple hundred dollars cheaper, but I think I might end up losing money in the deal, anyway, paying for time I won't use.
So, a few questions for all of you cell phone veterans:
1. What provider do you use, do you like it, and do they offer free calling to other phones using the same provider? (This is probably the biggest thing... if 80% of you use the same provider and can call amongst yourselves for free, there's a good chance I'll jump on the bandwagon.)
2. What kind of cell phone do you have? Is it crap? Are there any features it doesn't have that, in retrospect, you wish you had made a priority? Or features that it does have that you would never buy a phone without?
3. Is "Pay As You Go" a terrible scam?
I'll screen the comments on this entry, so even the more paranoid among you can respond.
Thanks, guys.
And for anybody who might care to know: We (Alisha, Jess, Kris and I) got the place on Charles St. for September.
