Because I'm pretty sure at the end of the day there are too many democrats who, at the end of the day, will walk into the box and won't vote for a black guy, or else just won't vote. And neither will all the young people who are too flaky or the minorities who are intimidated away from their polling places.
And honestly, without the mob I have a hard time seeing the Dems being successfully corrupt enough to out-falsify the republicans (and if you don't think both sides at least *try*, I have a bridge to sell you).
You're not the first person I've seen claim Obama won't win, but at the same time, do you think Hillary might have if she had won the primaries? I think we might have had a no-win situation.
Yeah, every time I see Obama, I keep thinking about Malcom Gladwell's book Blink, and I just have this bad feeling over the whole affair. The only thing that gives me any hope that Obama will be judged as a man, as opposed to a caricature, is that he at least won the nomination. This will be the proof in the pudding if we truly have entered the post-racial politics era, IMHO, depending how the campaign goes starting September 8th onward (i.e. after both Conventions, when it's game on.)
