How can you project a state with 0% of the vote reporting, and how can you project a state for one guy when the other guy is currently leading?

Well, 0% goes to what we like to call "just guessing"

The lead one is when you look back at previous elections to spot differences, automatically blue out liberal college counties and so on. The reason they couldn't project VA was because Fairfax and the other missing counties were likely to go blue, and they couldn't judge how weighted it would be.
