I thought about twittering bits of this, but really, even the small bits are too long for twitter.  Also, need the longer format to work out some of this in my head.

Also, I do not seem to be smart enough for twitter today.  Have had a dozen tweets I've started and given up on as I couldn't shrink them down to 140char.  (None of them, I think, ( Read more... )

Intriguing! Your faux lamb and faux chili sound quite tasty! Could you give me an idea of the spice proportions there?

Sausage is less of an option for me, as 80% of them are pork based and I haven't yet gotten over the childhood raised-kosher mental programming. Though I have played a bit with poultry or veal sausages to make my tomato sauces & chills many levels of yum! Or do you mean making your own? I wouldn't even know where to start....

I haven't used coconut milk as whipping cream yet, but that & the associated chocolate mousse are *neat* ideas. I have, however, made *seriously* kickass chocolate rice pudding with coconut milk instead of dairy.

Thanks!!

they aer SO good! sadly i don't measure; i just eyeball everything and often make odd quantities. (so long as it tastes good, i don't mind if it doesn't taste the same as last time). i'd say for 1/2 lb of ground beef you could try a medium to large clove of garlic and 1/2 to 1 lemon, juiced, maybe? and fattier hamburger is better in all the sausages than lean, btw ( ... )

I always find your dietary posts and conundrums fascinating...
What brand of crock pot do you have?

I'll keep an eye out for good recipes or potentially adaptable ones.

:) Glad to hear that at least they're not boring & tedious. I guess it's like reading the diary of House, MD, if he were less of a prick and focused on fixing his own problems. :) MuppetK, health detective! :D

My crockpot is a 6qt Rival. I've never had a recipe go quite that off before, but maybe I did something wrong & didn't have it sealed right.

And thanks.
