i think i do use significantly more cocoa than that; i use a wooden stirring spoon full, so it might be a tbls or more. and yes, the lemon makes a big difference; tomatoes are so very acidy, and without an acid the flavour just never gets quite as good. i keep meaning to try with tamarind, but forget when i'm actually cooking...
