Now, I knew this was an Oscar as soon as I saw the pic, with out reading it ;)
As you may recall, I hate fish ;) but I seem to know a lot about them.. is that the case of knowing your enemy? ;) (i hate fish in the eating fish kinda way ;) )

Those're neat suggestions and are on the list.
The Heinlein one...hrm. It's been a couple decades at least since I've read any Heinlein. I do remember a character trying to impress someone with a tough nickname and saying 'Oh, Scar.' which was misinterpreted as 'Oscar.' I don't remember the book though. The Door Into Summer? Biggest thing I remember from that book was Petronius the Arbiter. :D

Right character, wrong book. "Oscar" Gordon was in Glory Road and when he was asked what he wanted to be called he did say "Oh, Scar will do," because he didn't want to bring up his teen nickname which was "Flash." XD
Star, the examining physician (and, we later learn, Empress of the Known Universes) was accustomed to speaking French at the time and took "Oh, Scar" as "Oscar."

Or the somewhat more obscure "Levant"?
Or perhaps "NotFelix"?
And of course "Gordon". (You have to be a Heinlein reader to get that one.)
"Omnivore"? Or just "Vore" maybe?
Then there are the ironic choices like "Precious" or "Sweetums" or "Cuddles" of course.
Or the sublime nonsequiturs such as "His Holiness" or "Benedict XVI" ("Ratzo" for short)?
Shall I stop now? Maybe I'd better. No wait, there's always "Boehner"...
