I finally got to prepare food with a mortar and pestle last night. I felt like a mad scientist - which was my total dream job when I was a child. I always envisioned my own laboratory where I could create three-headed cats or some other freak of nature. Alas, it was nothing that exciting - just pesto.

The vast majority of the recipes have been beyond adequate.

Adequate:
Green Bean Casserole
Eggplant/Tomato Casserole

Good to Great:
Chili (two different ways)
Chicken Tortilla Soup
Stir-fry
Parmesan Chicken
Meatloaf
Chicken Enchilada Casserole
More...?

And, I assured her that one of us is bound to completely screw up a recipe at some point so much that we have to abandon it and go out to dinner. It won't be the end of the world. We haven't even come close yet.
