I'm not sure how it's even possible that I haven't heard of this 'til today. fenris_wolf pointed me to Sanctuary which should be coming our way in May 2007. It's going to be webisodes and sounds very cool with monsters, girls kicking ass (+ guns) and computer generated scenery ( Read more... )

Amanda Tapping stars as 157 year old Dr. Helen Magnus, one of the first female doctors in the Royal College during Victorian England. She was engaged to Jack the Ripper, and also has a daughter by him, Ashley. However, Ashley does not yet know that Jack is her father. Dr. Magnus' father started a sanctuary for supernatural creatures, collected from all over the world. In her work with these creatures, Dr. Magnus has received age longevity. The show is said to have a feel similar to Batman Begins.Um, that sound pretty effing cool. I am totally there! Mmm, science fiction chicks :D I never really watched SG:1 (though I'm almost up to date on Atlantis), so maybe I might finally be able to join the Amanada Tapping Lust Brigade ( ... )

SG-1 is one of these shows I started watching because I kept reading all of these amazing fics for it, with interesting characters and mythology and it made me curious about the show. I caught up with it via the magic of Netflix a couple of years back. The show is really not as good as its fanfic sadly. The writers weren't able to sustain continuity with the mythology, nor were they ever able to take any of the most promising plot points and take the risk of following them to their logical conclusion. They kept it safe and boring. Very sad ( ... )
