Regrettably he did not trademark the term; then they could at least be sued.

Over here (Australia), the Liberal Party is similar your Republicans. Funny thing was, they did have liberal policies, but they got in the way of gaining and maintaining power, so they went further to the right. Mr Roosevelt would be shocked at what they doing under that tag.
