Earthquake News

Mar 12, 2011 12:15

To those worrying about the earthquake, I'm safe and so are my family and friends that I've been able to contact. Most of us are south or in Tokyo so life is slowly going back to normal.

Keep those in Iwate, Miyagi and Ibaragi in your prayers though. They're the ones who need it the most.

Right now, the tremors are up north. I am in the south so there isn't much danger here.

I haven't and I've been a bit worried. I tried to look up her LJ but it was deleted or something?? I'm pretty confused. :(

She's mostly using her rp journal these days... "arks" I believe, but she hasn't updated in a bit more than a week so I don't know if she was still there. >_

Thanks for reminding me. I just blanked out that she'd moved.

Thanks♥ I feel terrible for those most effected, but still keeping my eye on the news since it seems this is going to be a crazy time for quite awhile.

I am very, very, very glad to hear you're okay. I hope it stays that way. And I hope things don't get any worse for everyone who has been affected.

...good god, it seriously sounds like an apocalypse, these last few weeks.

Thanks♥ I hope so too, but right now it looks like we're only starting to see the tip of the iceberg of all the damage. In the past four days the dead and missing toll has jumped from 1000 to 7400 people and that doesn't include the areas where we can't even contact them. Entire towns are missing still, so we have no idea how many people are going to end up listed as victims of this tragedy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will be volunteering when able, so if I suddenly go AWOL again, don't worry. I'm probably just out doing what I can to help my adopted country.

O_O

No.

WORDS.

Entire towns? Holy shit. We hadn't gotten the news over here that it was that bad - mostly, it's just focusing on the major cities. I guess it would, since I can't imagine our news guys would really be able to get over to where the damage beyond the major cities is in any short amount of time. Hah, one channel even reported it as "travel to Japan being problematic."

Add my fingers to your fingers. And my hoping to your hoping.

Mom managed to turn up a Livejournal charity auction deal for Japan, by the same people who organized a similar deal for Haiti. In other words, reliable people. So for once, the Internet is actually useful when the chips are down. I'll definitely be offering up my ficcing services! *fist pump* Managed to get thirty bucks last time...granted, that was mostly because Mom pointed her friends in my direction.

What sort of stuff do you have to do in your area? I mean, like, is there rubble to clear away or is it delivering stuff or...I have no idea.

Thanks, darling♥ Don't stress yourself out too much over it, yeah? But it's kind of you to offer your efforts to the relief fund. I wish you luck on your auction.

In my area, there's nothing affected, so I don't have to do anything right now. They might put a call out for volunteers to go up north though, and when that happens, I'll probably go if I can.
