CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Ulquiorra Schiffer/Cifer, Bleach.
In-Game Name: Ulquiorra Schiffer.
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Position & Ship (first and second choice for position please): The Convoy, Combat Trainer.

Appearance: Ulquiorra looks to be a rather morose boy in his late teens or early twenties. Desperately slight and with pale skin that is positively ashen in hue, he appears sickly and underfed without quite looking skeletal. His messy mop of black, unevenly cut hair makes it look very much like he doesn't care much for his appearance, though his clothes are always neat, crisp and clean-cut.

His eyes, vivid green and possessed of slitted, catlike pupils that don't react to the light like they really should, are easily his most striking feature, though the teal lines that run from the center of the lower lid and down to his jaw make it look almost as if the colour of his iris has run. In contrast to his pallid skin, his lips are as dark as his hair. He almost always wears a bland expression that borders on the depressive, and his eyebrows are set in something of a permanent frown.

He's really quite short, standing at only 5'6" ish, but his slender frame makes him appear taller than he is. That said, he has a tendency to slouch slightly, most often choosing to stand with his hands in his pockets in an oft disrespectful looking display of casualness.

He, like other Arrancar, bears the external sign of his hollow; a mask fragment. It comes in the form of a broken half-helmet, which sits on the left side of his head. While it's horned, it is worth noting that the horn is wide, curved and flattish, looking slightly more like an ear than one usually would.

Personality: Ulquiorra is a difficult person to gauge. He will initially come across as being very reserved, civil and quiet in both his speech and mannerisms, but there is an underlying confidence to the way he acts that makes it very clear that he is not all that he seems. His words, though well thought out and polite, will, depending on who he’s speaking to, be derisive and littered with thinly veiled insults. Though he is usually reserved, he can switch to being almost overly verbose when the situation calls for it.

Beneath the thin veneer of civility, Ulquiorra is a cold and stolid individual who sees little value in other people, their lives or their petty causes. Unemotional and cruel, Ulquiorra won't hesitate to dispose of those who he is ordered to and when he does, he will show absolutely no remorse for it. Anybody beneath his notice, who he deems expendable, is referred to as 'trash'. He doesn't think much of the majority of people and, needless to say, comes across as being rude, conceited and almost completely unlikable for it.

He's highly intelligent, callous and analytical on a military level, being somebody who is able to assess situations and respond logically and efficiently, by using clear judgment and a methodical execution. Keeping that in mind, Ulquiorra is not a particularly violent individual. While not being laid back exactly, he won't exactly go out of his way to hurt or kill people unless ordered to, a trait which makes him the perfect 'attack dog'. That said, he absolutely will not go out of his way to form alliances or friendships either. That trait may cause people to assume that he sees no worth in himself beyond his ability to follow orders, but this isn’t true at all, to the contrary; he regards himself, and his boss, very highly and his arrogance really knows no bounds.

While he can seem obedient or almost subservient to his boss, he is more than happy to hand out orders and be in a position of authority himself. He will tend to defer to his authority, but he can and will act independently, even going as far as to keep things from him. He is not a naturally secretive person, but in order to avoid employer-and-subordinate level conflicts, he will keep things to himself until he decides that the time is right. He also harbours a curious streak, that may lead him to sidestep the orders of his boss to satisfy this.

Ulquiorra is very unemotional, but that doesn't mean that he lacks the capacity to feel it. Due to his unfortunate childhood and rather military lifestyle, he has suppressed his emotions, burying them deep down and squashing them beneath a layer of negativity. As such, while he, like everybody else, can feel emotion, he blocks it out and ignores it. Because of that, he has difficulty understanding the emotional needs and reactions of other people, due to his ability to kill it in himself.

Abilities/Weapons:Ulquiorra's weapon of choice is a sword. It looks to be an almost typical katana, with a pale green scabbard and binding on the handle and the guard has a vaguely eye-like appearance. He is skilled with the use of his sword, having gone to lengths to train with it and learn to use it with proficiency.

That said, it takes an awful lot to get him to actually unsheathe it. Due to him thinking he's better than everybody until it's proven otherwise, Ulquiorra is content to fight unarmed and he's very good at it. Leaning towards using roundhouse kicks more than anything else, he is a lazy looking fighter, who tends to conduct battle with his hands in his pockets. That isn't to say that he won't remove them and use them if the situation calls for it, however.

Like other Arrancar, he can enter a 'released' state through the use of his sword and mask fragment. By speaking the command 'Tozase' in combination with the name of his sword, which is 'Murciélago' (meaning 'bat'), he can access another tier of power.

When released, he takes on a rather stereotypically demonic appearance. His hair lengthens dramatically and the sclera of his eyes turns green, while the iris alters to a shade of gold. His arms from the elbows and his lower half from the waist down become black furred and his fingernails lengthen to claws, while his feet take on a clawed, digitigrade and batlike appearance. He grows black wings that are large enough to afford him flight and he also sprouts a whip-like tail that is longer than his height in length. His helmet disappears entirely, to be replaced with two thin horns. He's stronger and faster in this guise, but can only hold it for limited bursts due to the energy it requires.

During his release, he can either fight unarmed, with his claws serving as his weapons or produce a pole-arm like weapon from what seems to be ‘spirit particles’, The same as what a Mask of a Vizard is formed from. Given the energy it takes to do the latter, it is extremely rare that he will do so.

His release is exceptionally fast and this speed upgrade is the main asset to his Murciélago form as opposed to power.

An attack he has as part of being an Arrancar, released or otherwise, is the 'bala' blast. Though it's not damaging to his surroundings, he can fire a blast of something similar to a soundwave to stun or wind somebody, without actually cutting them. It manifests as a flash of green light.

He also has the upgraded version of a Bala known as a Cero. While it is stronger and more damaging than the Bala blast (though extremely far away from being of the power required to take an Airship out of the sky), it requires charge-time, mitigating its effects in a battle conducted in close quarters.

He also has the ability to heal far more rapidly than normal people and is a little more resistant to magical attacks than people might otherwise be. While his healing ability allows him to survive and heal extreme surface wounds and regenerate even severed limbs, he cannot regenerate damaged internal organs and will die like anybody else if they are removed or destroyed. Unlike the majority of his powers though, this is his due to is demihuman status, as opposed to his Hollow.

His non-battle related abilities are generally analytical or related to his cold personality. Ulquiorra's calmness makes him very difficult to surprise or ruffle, which can give him the edge over a more rambunctious opponent. Also, while being rather emotionally stunted, he can read situations and people rather well. This ability is due to his eyes, which, because of his status as a demihuman, have the ability to pick things up which normal people would not, such as images in low-light or pitch-blackness, illusions and fast movement. As such, he's always had the ability to see things that would escape the notice of others, such as ghosts, or see through magical illusions. He also has a very keen memory, something which borders on the photographic.

How well can your character hack?: Ulquiorra is not skilled at hacking.

Weaknesses: Ulquiorra can be cut and injured just like anybody else in a firefight or sword-battle. As mentioned in his ‘abilities’ section, Ulquiorra is able to heal more efficiently and more quickly than most people, but his healing abilities are limited to surface wounds and limb-regeneration, so any damage done to internal organs will be as serious and potentially fatal as they would be for anybody else. In addition, it takes a terrific amount of energy to do something as extreme as regenerating a lost limb.

Ulquiorra's main weakness stems from his inability to understand or convey emotion. While he can analyse situations and his opponents surprisingly accurately, he has trouble when it comes to the reasons for emotional responses, which closes doors for him in terms of understanding motivation and reactions to certain scenarios.

That said, he has the capacity to express anger, although it is very rare for him to break his composure enough do so. He has been known, in very unusual situations, to lose his temper and shout. This sort of outburst would seem completely out of character to those who had spent enough time around him.

His arrogance is another major weakness. While he is generally able to judge other people correctly, he has a habit of vastly overestimating his own abilities which can lead him to fall short in battle. Again, a lot of this is because he tends to react in a very logical way, whereas other people tend to react in an emotional one. He doesn't quite see why anybody would choose to fight what he deems a losing battle and he's all the weaker for it. Determination against all odds is a foreign concept to him.

Ulquiorra's release form also has a major downside. Given the large wings and speed increase, it is relatively useless at close quarters, giving him no more ability when used in a confined space than his regular form would. As such, the need to be outside and in an open area makes using it very difficult and, quite often, pointless or out of the question when it comes to use in most battles, especially those which may be conducted on a ship.

On the subject of difficult things concerning his Murciélago form, he will invariably feel thoroughly exhausted following his full release and can only hold it for a limited amount of time, roughly half an hour at the maximum. He hasn't had chance to practice much with it either, due mostly to lack of situations that would require its use, so he is not as skilled with the use of speed and power as he could otherwise be.

Ulquiorra is also loyal, in an almost dangerous way. While it can be seen as a desirable trait, it can be said that his unwavering devotion to his boss is a definite weakness in that it makes it easy for him to be used, if only by one specific person.

History:

Ulquiorra started life in miserable circumstances. He was born to a young scientist couple in Melior, Ivona, as very much an accident. A sickly baby, he was difficult for them to cope with, something which was exacerbated by the fact that he was unplanned. Though his Mother loved and adored him the way most mothers do their children, he never really formed much of a bond with his Father, who worked long hours in the labs and only returned late at night, and had little to do with him due to the hours he kept.

In his early years he was always a quiet child. Quiet, but observant. He had precious few friends, due mostly to the fact that he was a little on the strange side. Always frowning, gentle and introverted, he didn’t get himself into many situations where he’d be able to make friends. That, and his appearance --his pallid skin, black lips and those bright green, catlike eyes-- made some people, especially the other children, nervous of him. As such, he’s never been social.

Ulquiorra is a demihuman. Due to his mother’s and father’s experiments with Mana Crystals before he was conceived and while the former was pregnant, he was exposed to an awful lot of magical energy in utero. Given that both of his parents were fair, it’s safe to assume that the radiation from the Mana Crystals is what gave him his unusual colouring, his unusual eyesight and his odd ability to heal quickly. He had the usual bumps and scrapes during childhood and always healed faster than a normal child would.

Up until he was fourteen, Ulquiorra lived with his parents quite happily. While still quiet and odd, he was an intelligent boy, who very much enjoyed reading and other quiet pursuits. It was then that, due to a magical explosion in the laboratory that his parents worked at, his mother was killed.

Ulquiorra withdrew further, having never quite hit it off with his father. They had nothing in common and hadn’t really bothered getting to know each other. Because of this, they both had pent up grief over her death that they couldn't talk about or alleviate easily. Ulquiorra shut himself off emotionally while his father tended towards angry outbursts. For the few months following her death, the household was tense, until it was suggested that Ulquiorra go off and join the military.

When he turned fifteen, he did just that. Looking for a new direction in life, he signed up to the Ivonian military and did a short spell there. He got stuck with the relatively boring low-class work, as you would expect of a new recruit, never really making it above the entry level rank despite his fierce loyalty.

Due to the corrupt nature of the Ivonian military and the country in general, he ended up being disliked by some of his contemporaries and lost out on promotions, being unfortunate enough to keep being volunteered out to high-risk missions. His healing ability helped with the injuries sustained in scuffles in the badlands, but he gradually became disillusioned with the military and defected, heading across the badlands to the neighbouring country of Vohemar.

It was there that he took up the mercenary lifestyle. He was a strong fighter, and rather capable, so he hired out his services to those who required them, not bothering to get to know even his repeat employers. He killed for money and felt no remorse, he eradicated monster problems and served as a body guard for those wishing to traverse hard to cross or dangerous areas of land. He made a living by it, and eventually moved to Colvus, where he got a steady job as one of the mercenaries employed to defend the city from monsters.

It was steady work, but boring. If Ulquiorra was prone to sulking due to monotony, he would have packed the job in a long time before he did. When he did, it was because a monster that he came up against was far, far too strong for him to handle and, in his arrogance, he took off to train himself.

How dare a mere monster be enough to beat him back? After all those he’d slain over time, one pathetic beast shouldn’t ever have been enough to drive him away from a job. It wasn’t like he was the only one that had been beaten by it, but he took the slight personally, even if it wasn’t intentional on the creature’s part.

His pursuit of strength took him to Berum, where he’d heard awfully hush-hush talk concerning a project that made people stronger and better through illicit magical means. The tales were hard to get a hold of, and it took him weeks to discover the location, but eventually he ended up in a laboratory on the edge of the city.

Upon meeting the man in charge, a certain Sousuke Aizen, he admired him almost from the get-go. Respectable and fair, Ulquiorra considered him somebody to look up to; something of a rare occurrence for such a withdrawn boy. It was there that he underwent the Arrancar procedure, that is… having his soul essentially sewn to that of a monster which, from then on, shared 'headspace' with him. He was one of many, but he was loyal.

The monster within was a powerful one. It did little to bring him out of his shell, rather, the heavy, oppressive nature of it did a lot to push any lingering emotions down beneath it’s weight. With Murciélago in his head, he gained the Zanpakuto and half-helmet mask fragment that represented the outside image of it’s power. He also developed 'tattoos' on his cheeks, that looked very much like tears. With the helmet and the sword, he is able to call forth the powers of the beast inside, but even with it sealed within him, he was stronger than ever.

After he’d recovered from the experiment, the first thing he did was leave the laboratory to kill the monster that had overpowered him, his first and only act of what looked to be revenge. It was the perfect test of his new powers and, as you may expect, he succeeded in slaying the beast that had beaten him the first time. After that, he became Aizen’s man, following orders dutifully whenever he gave them. He’d left the laboratory before it was destroyed in the explosion that signaled the end of the experiments and went back to his life as a mercenary, always awaiting the orders of his boss.

Eventually, on his request, he joined up with the Fiertia, a ship that was apparently looking for individuals like him.

Also, if you have anything to say about my playing of Ulquiorra (good or bad), feel free to do so here.
