Good morning, Livejournalers.

It's been a couple of weeks since our (well-deserved) vacation, and I must say, it's good to be back. Well, not entirely. It's good to be back into our well oiled, tried-and-true schedule again, but it's a bit sad at the same time. At least I was ready to come back. Ha! I just had that same conversation today--how I thought it was great they can have an all-new story line...otherwise, it's just boring rehash. And I love being a Trekkie, too :-)

I didn't think you would of liked the new Star Trek what with it being more like an almost pure action movie and the endless lens flares. I was never really a fan of the original series but I could get behind this.

The constant lens flares were my only complaint. Not for any other reason than the effect seemed a bit over-used. I mean, I get it for the action scenes and the need to make everything look kinetic where everything is moving, etc. But every scene?

Sometime more isn't better, it's just more, y'know?

Anyway, fucking loved the flick. Glad us Trekkies can score another convert!

What a sweet fuckin' flick. odin1eye July 19 2009, 00:38:20 UTC
And my man-crush on Karl Urban gets that much more intense.

I, for one, liked the lens flares.

That damn movie had everything that I expect and love in a Star Trek film: time travel, a great villain, hot chicks, space battles (some of the best I've ever seen), and Spock.

By the way, did you love that Kobayashi Maru bit or fucking what?

Mmmmm...Kobayashi Maru. murder4seven July 19 2009, 12:19:51 UTC
Karl Urban fucking channeled DeForest in that movie. He was remarkable.

Personally, had a bit of beef with the villian, but I found that the conflict was more centered around the bridge crew (which was fine by me!)

The whole lens flares bit was more of a knee-jerk reaction. When I watch it again, I won't complain, I'm sure. At the time I just felt it was a bit heavy-handed. Kinda like, "Look at this cool effect!...All the time!"

Miss you.

Live long and prosper.
