La la la books.

I've found an awesome site that solves half of my library problems. The sillier half... I keep track of the audiobooks I have listened to so far on my online library account, but that account is going to start having an $80 annual fee tacked onto it starting July. It's just a slightly longer drive to the nearest library in the San Jose system, ( Read more... )

La la la books - Pratchett anonymous June 17 2011, 07:07:38 UTC
If you've already read some and are hooked,
then start with #1, but if you are new to
Pratchett, start with something around
number 10, when they start to gain the
depth he's known for. The first one put
me off him for about five years. If you
feel you must begin with #1, at least
get #2 at the same time and read in rapid
succession, as they are two parts of the
same story. Also, be patient - sometimes
it takes a while for things to coalesce.
P.S. also look on lspace.org for the
Reading Guide.

I will check out that reading guide.

Most likely I'll end up getting them in order, on audiobook. If the early books are not as great as the later ones, at the very least it will give me something better to listen to than the Spanish radio that's always blaring in the corner. I mean, I'm kind of working my way through the Master & Commander books, and most of the time I find them a little boring, but I still like listening to them. Depending on the reader. A good reader can make anything awesome.

Good luck with all the library stuff!

Also, I can really recommend reading the Discworld novels. :-)

Thanks. :) I'm looking forward to getting around to them. I've only read Monstrous Regiment so far, and... possibly another one a long time ago, though I forget the tittle. It had crows and vampires anda very old witch. All I remember is that a crow stole the witches invitation to something or other because it had a lot of very shiny gold on it. And you had to know exactly where each vampire came from in order to figure out the method of killing it.
