OK - Finally, fellow fan girl and BFF (tashadandelion) and I have seen Twilight. We promised each other to hold off and see it together and it just took a while for our schedules to match up. We have both been very big fans of the series (Stephanie Meyer's is a Fantastic author) - and now . . . it's been brought to life ( Read more... )

Howdy, stranger.

After the favorable reviews I have seen, I plan to see it, although I was, to say the least, skeptical about the advertisements.

well howdy to you, too! ;)

As always - the books are SO Much better. She (Stephanie Meyers) is clearly drawn to the classics and to the most famous love stories of all time. it's fun to see my favorite Twilight characters (and these are at the top of my all-time list now) and be able to compare circumstances to, hm, the classic couples (i'm trying really hard not to give anything away to ya!). :) :)

Since I read the books first - I would suggest that those are a must! I'm not sure if it's better to read the books before or after. Of course, I read the series 3 times in the last 6 months (clearly - I'm crazy about the story! lol!). I love the books. AND - even her other book, The Host. Slow start to that one (took me about 80 pages to get hooked - but I persevered and whoosh!! Finished that one in about 2-3 days.

I was not too pleased with the actor choice for Carlisle or Rosalie, the two of them were supposed to be drop dead perfect looking, but weren't.
Emmett was exactly as I pictured him, and so was Jasper! I think my only complaints were the selections for those two... Rosalie especially. She was supposed to be so much more than what Bella thought she was, so I expected at least comparable... but she sure did have the attitude down!

hi! hi! hi! Oh this is SO cool!! I didn't know you were into the book!! VERY COOl! :) :) :) Yup - I agree. Carlisle (the actor) just didn't look good as a blond (sort of like when they cast Tom Cruise as Lestat - he was SO not the gorgeous blond I had pictured). Yup - AND I absolutely agree about Rosalie . She was just not pretty enough - but as you said - the attitude was perfecto. Alice. . . FAB! Emmett - pretty wonderful. Tasha & I also talked about how Edward's hair should have been a little more red (bronze is how it's described in the book). Did you read all 4 books?

Yes, I read all 4. I loved them ;-) Have not purchased them yet, but will at some point. For now, I'm okay with borrowing them from the local library or from friends or family that own them.

Okay -- should I see the movie first? Because it never fails that if I've read the book first, I'm disappointed in the movie even if it's good (e.g. Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter).

I just don't know what to tell you on that. There are so many key scenes from the book In the movie. And I wonder if you'll miss some of the more subtle inclusions. I just don't know. Anyone else with thoughts on the "right order of things?" :) :)

The library tells me that all their copies are out and that there are six requests ahead of me for the ones that come back. So I might as well see the movie.
