Punks on the corner.

Sometimes life is funny, I just went to the store to buy some Mt Dew; I pulled up next to a car that had four guys in it. I was mildly attracted to all four of them (if you know me you know that if an ugly guy has a mohawk or a shaved head he's most likely mildly attractive to me) two of the guys had shaved heads, one had a mohawk and the last had ( Read more... )

I don't think so.... murphyskinpup July 21 2005, 04:08:22 UTC
I can't believe I'm saying this... Punks of my day were at least respectful to eachother. I was in skingear, that would have generated a nod, a nod sneer, or something that acknowledged my being there, but nothing disrespectful, I'm not saying that they should have smiled or gone out of thier way to make me feel like put of thier crew. So, no, that's not the way they are supposed to be. I went to a music store down by the university a few weeks ago, while looking around I could feel the regulars looking at me, one psychobilly kid wanted to get by (the store is small) and ask "hey can I get by mate?" He didn't know me from Adam but there was a level of respect in his voice. That is the way it's supposed to be.

Uhm... not knowing how you were dressed at the time, I can't be sure... but you rarely came across as a hardcore punkskin while you were in DC. Even when you wore your oxbloods. So what about people being surprised by it makes them disrespecting idiots?

Surprise doesn't equal disrespect, the disrespectful thing was the tone, I was in skingear like normal, I think you and I talked about this on the way to DC from LI once. Pop punk kids piss me off because they feel that they have the right to be contrary because they are punks. However what they don't understand is that being a punk doesn't mean you treat people like shit, in fact when I was a young punk it was just the opposite. If I had treated anyone with such distain I would have been hit on the back of the head (harder than you ever do it) by one of my older friends. Respect and brotherhood ran though punks of my day.

I guess we can just chalk this up to me getting old. The music isn't too loud yet but I'm already crabby.

well in all honesty they were pretty old school they just didn't have a concept of respecting thier "elders," I would have gotten wacked had I done that.
