My worry is just finding companies that don't have issues with printing adult artwork. I know you've said this company doesn't seem to mind, but that was a leaflet for a gay sauna as you said. It had real man-wang on it. Where as I don't think furry porn would be perceived in the same sense. I dunno. I have NO experience with any of this and honestly I'm too scared to try :[
Having read the t's and c's in their entirity the only concern is the part that says you must abide by the laws in your own country with regards to what you produce.
I am not aware that printing porn, handdrawn especially, is illegal, im pretty sure the law now has grey areas surrounding what is or isnt child porn but as long as you arent ordering reprints of softpaw magazine, i think you're good. As i said, you never ever have to speak to a real person, it's literally a website with some tickboxes and an upload box. All contact, if any is required, is done by email. And assuming there are no problems, you wont hear from them except to confirm the artwork is ok, and thats automated.
Thats one of my worries though. These days hand drawn pornographic images are taken literally as a 'normal' human being would see it. If you showed it to someone in the street and they assumed characters in the images were being caused pain, or were distressed, and even if it looked childish or animal-harm-related, it just takes one person to say it and it could lead to a lot of serious accusations. I've heard it all, so I'm always very, very very weary of it.
Well, all ill say is, People end up going to publishers like rabbit valley press or the likes for producing heat magazine, they almost certainly are just a one or two man operation subbing work out to a larger more mainstream firm. Porn is printed, furry porn is printed, and someone does it, and im pretty sure it isnt two furries in a basement in wisconsin or the like.
But I use a free flow system of ink. It costs me less than £15 in my epson printer to replace all of the colours and black with ink. Each £15 set of ink / dye contains 5x the standard cartridges.
You also then need to factor in that they may only get 1 or 2 sales in which case it has proven more cost effective to take their printer. Plus they are also then able to customise what they are printing to the person in question.
Just pointing out that there are some benefits vs the economies of scale idea.
Depends on your idea of one off? From what I remember when I was looking into it. The lithography idea only really makes sense if you're going to start either printing hundreds or thousands of prints. I am not sure I am aware of many artists that would make hundreds of prints
( ... )
I did start this from the standpoint of someone doing portfolios. And i did state that they would have to be pretty popular. The likes of which, Gator up there kinda is. The fact she can pull in a few hundred from a commission on furbids evidence of that.
I was however unaware of the Obscene Publications Act. Which would seem to, if it is as strict as you say, pretty much prevent the pubication of any adult imigary in the uk at all. In which case im surprised we get away with what we do at work at all.

Not even entirely sure how I stumbled onto this post. Seriously glad I did. I am not an artist concerned with ordering prints at this point, possibly ever, but enjoy feeling smarter just having read about how-things-actually-work :)
