While Ivan did the roomba dance downstairs, I was able to get some necessary envelope addressing done. For that bit of found time, and the resulting fur-free floor, Ivan has already paid himself off in my books

geecat has been off working a convention, and while I miss him it turns out that I don't miss the din of clashing swords and tinny voices from speakers spilling out of the office after all. Since my desktop is in the office and I am easily distracted, I don't write or even think about writing when the World of Warcraft descends upon the house. It's not his fault that I don't write during these times-- it's his home too and it's his hobby, and both of these things leave him perfectly entitled to this form of fun.
Yeah, I think it's time to go back to the headphones. I feel mildly guilty though, because it feels like I'm not really present even though I'm there in the office. I think that I need to learn that "my time" for writing is okay.
(And it's not that he's intrusive when I'm trying to write or whatever, btw, it's just me being weird.)
So, you are writing a book, but feel a bit guilty about not being present while your partner plays WoW...? :-) I bet if Gary knew he was disturbing you he would buy himself headphones ASAP. (And it's not putting him out. Robert strongly prefers headphones to speakers, so I've never actually heard what WoW sounds like.)
He has a built in headphone/mic thingie that he's going to start using, and between that and me using headphones I think the office will be nicer for working.
Also I cleaned it this weekend so it's already that much more appealing. :)
And I'm going to work on getting the house to a state that doesn't make me antsy. Once it's there we can schedule the cleaner, and that should help. Then I won't have any excuses left. :)
