the following castles are vineyards so you can't get into the buildings. they're still pretty interesting to look at, and if you watch news carefully, you can read that happenings take place sometimes, like the rheingau music festival every year. that'd be the only chance to have a look inside. but unfortunately i'm not that much into classic music.

castle vollrads.

the tower in the court.

slightly different perspective.

the main building.

a lake in the court with a lot of carps swimming in it! they were huge!

it fascinated me, he~

ornamentic metal doormats.

the entry to the tower. very interesting smith works.

castle johannisberg.

the alley to the castle. it must be beautiful in fall ( this is why i plan to return again, haha. )

silhouette of the castle's chapel. ( or church )

there were a lot of old rose bushes.

vie down on geisenheim.

beer garden.

north, east, south, west.

scallops on a crest. i love scallops, they're not only tasty, they're also very old symbols of religiousness and maybe freemasonry.

under vines.

the castle.

front view. there is one thing which destroys the picture: the traffic sign.

some random ones again:

boat in schierstein harbour.

boppard on rhine.

and since there are so much roses in this post, here's nick cave and kylie minogue in one of the best videos ever made: where the wild roses grow.
