Broken Arms?

Jun 19, 2005 22:31

I need a little help.  I'm writing the sequel to 'Learning' and have reached a point where I need a little help.  How would the Doctor go about fixing a broken arm?  Or is there a way of writing about it without writing about it, if you know what I mean...  Help?

Here's what I have so far.  Thoughts desperately desired.

I'm not sure what to suggest. Depends if you want to go with fic canon or be original. I was going to say I'll go and let it simmer in my head a bit but ideas are already forming.

How about he is able to fuse the bone together but still has to put it in a sling to hold it steady for a bit to let it finish healing. Then you'd kind of be going with fic-canon but also being a bit original from what I've read. How he goes about fusing it I'll let your mind figure out (since it's fully capable).

Or

He sets it in a traditional way.

[shrugs shoulders] I don't know what'll fit with what comes next.

Anyway, must go and write the rest of the next chapter of 'last time lord'. AU makes me happy.

So it sounds like there isn't really a cannon way to go about this. Just fic cannon - in which case it's all up to me. Hmm... Okay, I think I know what I'm going to do. I like both of your suggestions actually. I don't want it to be just a 'wave something over it and it's all better' kind of thing. That's boring and doesn't fit with the idea I have about him angsting about having broken both of his girls. *g ( ... )

I more a cut myself horridly or try and injury myself in other ways kind of girl (I once fell into the Thames whilst narrowboating, how it was between a boat and the bank, and somehow other than giving myself a soaking I was alright. Same thing when I fell in by the bottom end of a lock on the canals, my sister fished me out and I was fine) so I've not yet managed to break any bone (touch wood). But I do know that long bones can move when broken, but I don't know about resetting them other than that. Hmm, had I known before friday I could have asked my kind of step-sister who is training as a nurse and working in A and E at the moment, as she'd probably know. Hmm, I'll see about ringing my father and asking Dee tonight.

Btw, the idea of him angsting about having broken both his girls is just too cute for words. Kudos if you can put it into words. Bless, love 9th, he can be so cute.
