I woke this morning to find a rather ... passionate email from someone I'd previously respected in my inbox this morning, concerning the fact that I voted for jameth in the LJ election. This person also accused me of being anti-fandom, and removed me from thier f-list. First let me say this: the rumour that jameth is 'anti-fandom' is just that. A rumour. ( Read more... )

Thank you.

I am surprised, actually, I was able to string together a single coherent sentence, I was so pissed when I wrote this.

Probably going to prove to be a bad idea, but, whatever....

I can't believe someone bashed you on your right to an opinion.

Quite frankly, I didn't follow the elections because I...well, I don't care that much. Sorry if that's blunt. But anyways, you're allowed to vote for who you want to. And people don't have to support another HPfan just because of that fact.

So yes, very well said.

Yes, I understand what you're saying. And I guess what I'm trying to say is, the reason so many people have a hard time sperating those two ideas, is because it is often times people like legomymalfoy who try to stand up and represent it. -A slash, rape, underage scenario kinda gal. Maybe because it is this person that most feels they have something to justify. I can't say for sure, but I suspect it's along those lines. And she allows people to dub her 'the voice of fandom'. I understand that must be flattering, but it frustrates the hell out of me. She must know by now, a VAST majority of fandomers do not want to be represented by that. That is HARDLY what fandom is all about. And yet, she plays on that title and allows people to downright lie and call every other candidate who 'opposes' using others characters in that way 'anti-fandom.' So, if we elect this person as the voice of fandom, who does nothing to defend the intergrity of fandom, and allows anyone who doesn't support the freedom to put children in such scenarios to be ( ... )

Just want to say, you are entitled to your own opinion no matter what I or anyone else thinks about. Always. Period. The end.
I don't know much about this issue, and considering what I just read....I probably would've sided with you, but that is irrelevant. If anyone doesn't want to be your friend because you expressed an opinion that they don't agree with, then fine. But they shouldn't act like a douche about it. Aren't we adults?
Good for you for standing up for yourself. I agree, while I have had some exotic fantasies that I never want to act on, and some others that are pretty unlikely....I didn't have any of those when I was a teenager. Kids have it tough enough these days without adults subjecting their OWN desires onto children or tweens or whatever.
