Ghana: Day 11 LAST-O!!

Aug 18, 2011 07:20

Thanks, everyone, for reliving my trip with me. I hope you enjoyed it!

Day 11: Going With The Flow

Well, today we were *supposed* to take a cruise on the Voltage Lake, but because of folks gaming the system, the cruise was fully booked before we could even purchase our tickets. So instead we took a tour of the dam which created the lake out of the Volta River. The dam supplies power to the whole of Ghana's 24 million people and parts of several other countries besides. Very impressive.

Since we had nothing else to do near the lake, we decided to head back to Accra to visit the National Museum. On the way we encountered at troupe of baboons crossing the road. Trip made right there. XD

The National Museum is supported by the government. It's purpose is to show that the history of West Africa does in fact pre-date European contact, a concept that Europeans once decried. Won't try to explain the exhibits. Just enjoy the pictures.

Now that we've freshened up and changed for our flight, it's time for one last pre-flight meal.
