“Your expression was priceless,” a feminine voice told Yunho and he could hear her chuckle.

The young man gave his best friend a death glare then went back to his stand, fuming. He really didn’t see that coming. Okay, the new guy could be part of their group but was it really necessary to set him up with that Kim guy? He didn’t think so and groaned as he finally made his way behind his stall.

Jaejoong was more than surprised; he was flabbergasted. The moment he heard the mayor’s decision, he had widened his eyes. He had to find the man, and soon. Ignoring Krystal’s voice, he ran all over the place, trying desperately to look for the mayor. ‘Damn, he can’t just vanish!’ Jaejoong thought, getting angry little by little. He needed to find a solution, there was no way he would be working with. Breathing deeply, he didn’t know how he found the strength to walk towards his stand.

The two men, lost in their thoughts, didn’t notice the presence of the other. Both of them were preparing their stuff and cleaning their stand. When Jaejoong ate a few strawberries, the other man looked at him.

“Like what you’re seeing?” Jaejoong asked with a smirk as he ate the fruit in a… sexy way.

“As if!” Yunho denied as he looked away, trying to do something else. “I was just watching you getting fat, you’re always eating.”

“So you were watching me, weren’t you?”

“I-I… No! Just go back to your business Kim!”

Jaejoong was just enjoying provoking the other, it was like a second nature. He actually knew his rival wasn’t always staring at him yet he couldn’t help but to annoy him. He glanced at his clock: almost seven p.m. Waving good-bye at his friend as well as Lettuce-lady and her grand-daughter, he picked most of his empty boxes and took them to his van. He should hurry to go back home.

‘I wasn’t staring at him! I’m sure of it! I hate you, Kim Jaejoong!’ Yunho fumed inside. And now, he was obliged to work with him… Sometimes life didn’t spare him. He let out a sigh, thinking of a way to get out of this situation. He had to talk to the mayor the day after, he just had to. Without a glance at the other boy and everyone else, Yunho finally packed everything in ten minutes. There were only eighteen balloons left but he promised to not cry in front of people. He was a man of principles.

Back to the other young man. Anger was rising in his mind, he didn’t pay attention to the speed, running two red lights, ignoring several klaxons and shouts. Finally he arrived at his house but it was late, hoping that his brother would help him prepare the meal.

“Mom, Chul, I’m home!” he announced while taking off his shoes and jacket. “I expect that you cooked ‘cause I’m sooo not in the mood,” he added with a groan.

Fortunately for him, everything was ready when he walked in the kitchen. Kissing his mom on the cheek, Jaejoong sat on the chair before letting out a sigh. It was a tiring day. Heechul smiled and served his family, waiting for his brother’s outburst. They both knew -his mom and himself- that Jaejoong wouldn’t be able to stay silent.

“I hate that old man! Just because he’s the mayor doesn’t mean he can decide everything, damn it!”

“Calm down Jaejoong-ah, what’s happening?” Mrs Kim asked him.

“Apparently… Apparently, I’ll have to work with that Jung guy. I can’t believe it!”

Jaejoong may have said this calmly but in fact, he was gritting his teeth. The whole situation wasn’t new for them, they were used to the eldest son’s moods and of course the main reason was Jung Yunho. They had to deal with ‘that Jung guy did this to me’ or ‘I can’t believe he said that’ etc. but now, the two men had to cooperate with each other? Ouch…

“Well, this should be fun,” Heechul grinned before lowering his eyes when his brother gave him a death glare.

“What? You and Kim Jaejoong? This is a joke, right?” Changmin widened his eyes, wondering if he should laugh or not.

“I wish. I’ll see if we can change the situation, or it’ll be impossible to handle,” Yunho sighed. “That Kim guy doesn’t know how to behave other than as a barbarian.”

“Towards you,” precised the younger man. “Come on, it’ll be an opportunity to stop your fighting. You know you want to, strawberry boy.”

“It’s true that sometimes I get tired of it but the guy provokes me!”

“I’m not going to side with you nor with him, you’re both hopeless. Come on I’ll help you with the boxes,” Changmin let out a sigh before stepping out of the house.

The other man stood in the hallway, in his thoughts. Even if it was fun to tease that Kim guy, Yunho had to admit that sometimes he would like to have a peaceful day. Though he felt it wasn’t going to be easy. Jaejoong and him wouldn’t be nice to each other, it wouldn’t be a peaceful day. He was sure of it.

About two hours later, Yunho went to his bedroom and fell on his bed, finally relaxing himself. Somehow, he felt relieved that they wouldn’t have to fight over a stall the next day; he needed to sleep. That was the only positive thing about the mayor’s decision. By ten o’clock, he fell into a deep slumber.

From the time he got up, Jaejoong was way more grumpy than usual. He didn’t to talk much in the morning anyway but today, there was some evil aura surrounding him, preventing people to even approach him. Yes, he was that mad. Despite the fact that he had to work with that Jung guy, it wasn’t the main reason of his anger. He dreamt about him, that he was stealing his strawberries! Why did it have to be Yunho?

Groaning while he was eating, Jaejoong tried to think about something else, then rushed to prepare his boxes. He wasn’t that late but he needed to be at the village before Yunho even if there wouldn’t be fighting over the stall. Kim Jaejoong needed to be first, it was a matter of principles.  With his brother’s help, he finally managed to be ready at 6:30am, leaving his house and heading to the market right away. He noticed ten minutes later that he forgot his iPod -though it never left his pocket-, it was going to be good day. ‘This is all that Jung guy’s fault anyways. And about that dream, ugh.’ How he wished he never slept.

For some unknown reason, Jaejoong arrived at the same time as Yunho, although he didn’t want to waste his time and parked the vehicle, trying to not pay attention to his rival. The latter noticed him, of course. How were you supposed to not hear a van rushing behind you, then see it passing your car just to park in your spot. Seriously, this Kim was too much.
“Just who do you think you are, Kim?” Yunho shouted when he closed his door not-so-calmly.

“What now?” the other replied equally as annoyed as him.

“I use to park there!”

“Oh really? I didn’t know, oops~” Jaejoong flashed a smile at him before making his way to the stall, boxes on his arms.

‘Dang, he knows how to drive me nuts!’ Yunho thought, gritting his teeth. He let out a sigh, trying to calm himself down and followed Jaejoong’s steps, carrying his boxes. He greeted a few merchants on his way, smiling the whole time, despite his bad mood thanks to that Kim guy. Little by little everyone was coming into the market, busy with all their stuff, but no mayor in sight. He turned to see the other man, who was staring at him by the way.

“Jung, I’ll make this pretty clear. We’ll divide this table in two parts, equally, and no one is allowed to cross the line,” Jaejoong announced, hands on the table, still staring at his soon to be co-worker.

“Psht, fine. I’m already wondering about how you’ll divide the stall just equally,” Yunho grinned as he folded his arms on his chest.

“Shut up. I brought a tape measure just so you know.”

Indeed, the blond man took the object out of a box and was already measuring the table. Time was running out, they had to be ready soon, before the mayor and his new recruit would come. Yunho was sighing once again. He watched what his rival was doing with the corner of his eyes, as he took several little baskets and filled them up with his strawberries.

“I hope your estimate is fair. If you don’t mind, I’d like to see it myself,” he said, approaching the other.

“Here, you moron,” the latter snapped at him, throwing the tape measure with Yunho as a target.

“Hello my dear boys,” Lettuce-lady greeted them with a huge smile. “I know you don’t get along well but you need to make an effort, okay?”

The young men nodded with a light smile, ‘Yes Ma’am,’ they sighed. The lady was very nice to them and she had a point, they needed to find a common ground. Though they weren’t ready yet, it was a matter of pride now.

“Don’t you dare cross the line at least one inch or you’ll regret it, got it?”

“Shut it, the mayor’s here, you asshole,” Yunho replied before rushing towards the man.

Several people were already surrounding the mayor, who was walking closely to the strawberry stall. Yunho succeeded in standing next to the man who was gathering the other merchants. Jaejoong raised his eyebrow when he saw almost everyone near him. Apparently, people were curious to know the new man. Or maybe they wanted some gossip, meaning they wanted to know what happened to him and Yunho. Yeah, that may be it too.

“Good morning everyone!” the mayor exclaimed, smiling. “I’m sure you all know that I have some announcements to make, it won’t take long I promise. Regarding the new merchant, he should be here any minute now. And now, concerning Kim Jaejoong and Jung Yunho’s situation, I’ve thought about it. You will divide your stall in two- oh I notice you already did it! About the money, since you’re working together, the money will be yours and so, at the end of each day, you’ll split the cash equally…”

“That’s not fair! What if he sells less fruit than I do? Why would I be obliged to share my money with him?” Jaejoong reacted right away, almost cutting the man.

“How in the world would I be selling less than you, huh?”

“Oh I don’t know, maybe because you’re a loser?”

“Enough is enough!” the mayor snapped at them. “My point was to make this place a peaceful one. I made you work together so that maybe you can try to stop your fighting. The finance issue will make you both work together to earn an important amount of money that you’ll divide in equal parts. That means: no fights, well if you’re willing to make an effort, that is.”

While Yunho was gritting on his teeth, arms folded across his chest, Jaejoong was pouting, clenching his fists behind him. The idea of sharing the same stall with his rival was already something hard to accept for him, but now they really had to work together? ‘They got to be kidding me,’ he thought. The spectators other merchants were now staring at the strawberry boys, looking for an answer. Maybe they were trying to make them uncomfortable.

“Fine,” Yunho let out a sigh before looking at Jaejoong. “I’ll make an effort.”

“What about you Jaejoong-ah?” a random voice asked the young man.

“Fine,” he murmured as he glanced at his rival.

“Great! Then, that’s settled! Now- Oh! There he is!” the mayor blurted out, leaving the two men to head to the new vehicle in the market.

Apparently it was the new merchant but seriously, they really didn’t care. Yunho was talking with his best friend Hyori while Krystal was helping Jaejoong out with the other baskets. About five minutes later, the latter sat on his stool, waiting for his new co-worker to be alone.

“I still can’t believe I’ll have to share my money with you.”

“Instead of sulking, you should be thanking me for giving you my profits, Kim. You’ll earn much more than yesterday I’ll tell you. There, am I not nice to you?”

Even if Jaejoong was the one who started the conversation, he preferred to ignore the other’s reply. It would lead to another fight and he didn’t want too annoy people too much. Although, he already had his next insult in mind.

“Oh so now you’re ignoring me, huh? You’re so childish, tsk.”

He jumped out of his stool, ready to take Yunho’s neck in his hands but only managed to grab the collar of his shirt when a silhouette stood in front of them, stopping the blonde man’s actions. He was rather tall, short black-haired, thick eyebrows and had charisma -you could tell after seeing all the women with a goofy smile on their faces.

“Hi, nice to meet you guys, I’m going to be your neighbour stand. I hope we can get along just fine,” the young man said while looking at Jaejoong, with a smile at the corner of his lips.

“Well, I don’t like cucumbers!” Jaejoong blurted out.

“Yah, what’s your name?” Yunho asked annoyed.

The new guy was the main reason why they had to work together, he shouldn’t expect nice words. He let out a sigh, raising one eyebrow and replied with a grin.

“My name’s Choi Seunghyun, but you can call me T.O.P.”
