Hmm, that's a tricky one. Because we're also an RP community, it could make it confusing. The easiest would be for the characters to have their own journals because each post acts as a mini-prompt, per se. Each sentence tells a story and there is scope there for other characters to respond to the post.
However, a way around that could be for you to just list the character name and fandom at the bottom of the entry so people are aware who it is, and maybe a small link to the character journal at insanejournal? That's probably the only way around it. Ultimately, livejournals would be the preferred option, but an understandable pain if you have a lot of characters.
