Freakylinks - Finishing the Job

Mar 29, 2008 15:29

Who: Derek Barnes - "Freakylinks"
What: A 1st person roleplay sample.

There are times when I wonder if I'd made a mistake in finishing where my brother left off. It was more his thing than mine, but since I'd opted to be his lead investigator, I got caught up with his fascination, saw some things too strange for the sanest of people, and started diving into the occult headfirst. I never denied the existence of spooks, but I never really cared all that much in the first place. It was more of a job for me, something easy, but when I started facing people's nightmares as my reality, I got hooked.

I'm hoping Adam finds satisfaction with what I've done with his site. Sorry to say, but the guy was all talk and no show. I redesigned the site to catch people's attention, not bore them, and I think my brother would be happy knowing how many people actually come to the site now, instead of passing it by without a seconds hesitation. Gotta say, I actually enjoy the job I have now. Even though it's dangerous at times, even life threatening (or worse,) it definitely outweighs the boring jobs I used to have. And even if I didn't consider the site my job, I'd still agree it's better than normalcy.

People are always looking for something to thrill them, and I hope my listeners are spooked and awed by the true encounters of the things that go bump in the night.
