Difficulty swallowing is super common after being on a vent. They are NOT careful when they ventilate you, they just want to save your life. The machine goes through all the places you need to breathe/not choke while swallowing. Swelling is likely. If there's another reason for his swallowing problem, they will tell you after the assessment. This is one of the things Speech Pathologists do, so if you have questions, we are the ones to ask.

Thank you! That does help to know. I wasn't there for the assessment but they said he should have thicker liquids and soft foods, so it sounds like that might be the issue.

They closed our office ahead of time! Hallelujah! So I definitely plan to have a pajama day, though I didn't have the foresight to lay in some bacon, so it's chicken fingers tomorrow. *G*
