It was hard, Friday and yesterday. I don't have anything profound to say about it - it's just hard. I don't remember crying so much at the wake for my mother, but I think that was partly because we were all trying to support my dad, and also I don't think I fully processed everything until afterwards. man, i hate it when they change the words of the prayers. it confuses me! and the original wording was usually better. you're totally right about the grandeur! it's a religious service! colloquial isn't always better! (also i had to type it three times before it looked right. >.< )

it sounds like a good memorial, even tho, you know, memorial. take care of yourself.

Aside from All Souls every few years I only go to church for funerals now, and I hate the languages changes too. Both for the power of the language and also because calling people out is not very Christian now is it? We're here now, guys! Be nice! (I mean, I've always been an atheist despite my intense Catholic upbringing, so they're not going to bring me back into the fold or whatever, but you get the point.) And I know when to kneel but I don't do it anymore, and that also feels super weird. Anyway, I am nearby in complicated Catholic feels.
