IC Information:
Name: Harry Potter
Fandom: Harry Potter
Timeline: The end of the third book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Canon updated to the end of the fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Age: Thirteen Fourteen
Appearance: Small and scrawny, straight and short black hair that goes whichever way it wants and covers a lightning shaped scar on his forehead. Green eyes behind round glasses.
Abilities: An ability passed on to him by Tom Riddle (Voldemort) is the ability to talk to and understand snakes, Parselmouth. His eyesight - while needing glasses - is extremely strong in the field of Quidditch, earning him the position of Seeker for the Gryffindor team, he can follow the Snitch's lightning quick motions with ease. Aside from this is Harry's learned magics from his instructors at Hogwarts which he can put to use with his wand, an eleven inch holly wand with a phoenix feather core:Lumos: lights the tip of his wand up like a flashlight
Nox: extinguishes this light
Wingardium Leviosa: makes a targeted object fly for as long as the wand is gesturing
Expelliarmus: knocks the wand - or whatever one is holding - out of the targeted person's hand
Rectusempra: a tickling charm, makes the targeted laugh uncontrollably
Expecto Patronum: a spell used to ward off Dementors, in full force it takes form of an animal and chases them off; made with the power of a really happy thought; usually seen as silvery whisps of light; Harry's is a stag
Riddikulus: a spell used against Boggarts - something similar to the boogeyman - it changes the Boggart's form from that which scares you the most to something that makes you laugh
Locomotor Mortis: a leg-locking curse that binds the legs together invisibly
Petrificus Totalus: similar to the leg-locking curse this one binds the entire body including the target's mouth
Not so much an ability but more of a possession is his father's invisibility cloak given to Harry by Albus Dumbledore for Christmas during his first year. There's also the Marauder's Map given to him by Fred and George Weasley.
Personality: Harry is ultimately a good guy, a very good guy who is caring and brave, worries about his friends but at the same time there are parts of Harry that doubt if he really is good. As if everything negative is an influence from Voldemort because of the connection forged between them, is the Dark Lord controlling him? But at the moment that sort of thinking is barely a whisper in his head, the more concerning negative emotions are those that sometimes cause trouble in the Muggle household he lives in over the summers, magic that happens when he gets really upset or angry. But he's gotten quite well for holding himself back from getting into fights while at school, even holds his friends back, except when it happens to involve his parents. Harry would do anything to defend the few memories and stories that he was told of them.
He's a fierce and loyal friend that's quick to defend those that he thinks are right in the matter as well, be it stepping in on Neville being picked on by Malfoy or trying to reason with a teacher on a classmate's view/behavior in the class. Harry might be a bit reckless at times but always means well, he simply wants to do what is right and go stand up against the bullies. So while he fights them in a duel or chases after them on broomsticks, Harry usually has no concern for himself while he does these things. And if he does it's because that he also has something to do with the bully, trying to get answers for a puzzle he's busy working out. Harry has had a puzzle to work out every year, what's causing all the trouble in the school, who?
Harry is very curious - perhaps too much for his own good - and so are his friends, the ones he has also being very loyal to him, Hogwarts is his home after all. He'd do anything to protect the school, the students, and keep it open. And while he should tell the teachers or at least the Headmaster what he learns of the puzzle of the year he's solving, Harry does eventually tell them everything - even if he omits a few things to protect his friends. Just like his father he's broken more than a few school rules to get things done the way he believes they should be done and when they should be done. And he's taken each detention and punishment given to him with only a bit of griping about them.
History: Harry James Potter is the son to James and Lily Potter, two great wizards killed by the powerful Voldemort. But when Voldemort went to kill Harry, who was but one year old, he was somehow defeated and vanished from the wizarding world, leaving baby Harry with a lightning shaped scar on his forehead. Famous before he could even walk or talk Harry was sent to live with his wizard-hating Muggle aunt and uncle, the Dursley's, and their bullying son Dudley. For ten years Harry lived under a staircase in a closet with Dudley's torn and grossly over-sized hand-me-down clothes. He grew up knowing nothing of the wizarding world, of his parents, or of his own fame; and yet strange, unexplainable things always seemed to happen around him, like magic. A few days before his eleventh birthday that year letters began to arrive, addressed to him for once, and his distressed uncle hauled the four of them off into the wilderness until they came to a small island hut where they stayed for the night throughout a storm.
Hagrid, a half-giant, appears at the stroke of midnight on the day of Harry's birthday and gives him the letter that he's been trying to read since they first started arriving. It's then that Harry finally finds out that he's a wizard and he's been accepted to the best wizarding school in the world, Hogwarts. Hagrid takes charge of him, despite his aunt and uncle's protests, and carries him off to gather his necessary supplies for the coming school year. Harry finds out that his parents were very wealthy in the Goblin bank called Gringotts, a nearly impenetrable bank, where Hagrid also makes a stop in a vault to pick up something on Hogwarts business. They then go about their business and Harry procures a wand that is the 'mate' to the very same one that gave him his scar, meets Draco Malfoy, and gets a snowy white owl he names Hedwig as a birthday present from Hagrid. At the beginning of September Harry finds himself at the train station trying to find Platform 9 3/4, a platform that shouldn't exist.
But Harry finds his way onto it by running into the wall between platforms nine and ten with the help of Mrs. Weasley. This is how Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley first meet, on the train to Hogwarts where they also meet Hermione Granger and Neville Longbottom. Once in their robes and at Hogwart's gates the First Years get ready to be sorted by the Sorting Hat; Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Neville get into Gryffindor while Draco and his thugs Goyle and Crabbe end up in Slytherin. However, Harry is somewhat worried over the private conversation he has with the Sorting Hat, it tells him that he could be great in Slytherin when Harry repeatedly thinks 'not Slytherin' during its evaluation. The months pass and Harry settles into his new school life with minimal troubles, though he quickly deduces that the Potions master, Snape, dislikes him immensely. They learn that the same vault that Harry and Hagrid visited at Gringotts was broken into later that same day, Harry gets more and more curious about what exactly it was.
Flying lessons start soon after and the Gryffindor first years find themselves paired up with Slytherins, something that will always become troublesome seeing as Malfoy and his crew will find ways to make the lives of the Gryffindors miserable. The lesson starts off normally enough until Neville's broom takes him up to high and he breaks his arm falling down, while he's gone Malfoy takes the Remembrall that Neville's grandmother sent him up into the air. Harry follows to get it back even though they're supposed to stay grounded. Malfoy throws it and Harry catches the small glass ball with ease, without breaking anything and gets taken off by Professor McGonagall to meet with Gryffindor's Quidditch captain, Oliver Wood, naming him the team's new Seeker. Harry is now the youngest Seeker in over a century, Fred and George Weasley - Ron's older brothers - are also on the team as Beaters.
Malfoy is furious that Harry didn't get expelled and challenges him to a Wizard's Duel late at night. Which is really a trap that kinda-sorta fails, what with the trio running into Neville, running from Filch - school caretaker - and hiding in a room that no one is supposed to be in. And inside they find themselves face to face with a huge three headed dog guarding a trap door, Harry now knows where the package from the Gringotts vault is. They manage to escape without harm and turn up the next morning much to Malfoy's continued rage, not to mention that Harry also gets gifted with a Nimbus Two Thousand broomstick for playing Quidditch with from Professor McGonagall. Harry begins with Quidditch practice as a secret weapon seeing as first years aren't allowed to have brooms. Something else that Malfoy tries to get him in trouble for having. But Harry keeps going to practices although Hermione doesn't see why Harry should get rewarded for having broken the rules.
Finally Halloween comes with a row between Ron and Hermione over the broom still in place, though Ron has managed to make it worse by remarking that her know-it-all attitude is why she doesn't have friends, something she overhears. During the Halloween feast that evening Professor Quirrell announces that a mountain troll has found its way into the school. Ron and Harry go to get Hermione - who was crying in one of the girl's bathrooms - and the three of them end up knocking the troll out, finally becoming friends. Before the first game of the Quidditch season the three of them have a run in with Snape who has an injury on his leg, an injury he had probably gotten on the night the troll invaded. The game itself is rather dangerous, especially for Harry, his broomstick tries to buck him off because someone - they think it's Snape - has it under a spell. Hermione distracts the spell caster and wins the match. Talking to Hagrid about it last they find out that the three headed dog is named Fluffy and that the item it's guarding has something to do with Nicolas Flamel.
Christmas is next and Harry stays behind in Hogwarts with Ron for company, in all that time they've not found a single thing about Flamel in the books they have access to and make plans to try and get in the Restricted section. Something made easier - somewhat - with the anonymous gift of an Invisibility Cloak that belonged to his father. However when Harry goes he picks up a book that screams at him, so Harry hides in a room where he finds a mirror. A mirror that shows what you desire most, Harry sees his whole family including his parents, Ron sees himself as Head Boy holding the House Cup and Quidditch Cup as team captain, Dumbledore says he sees himself with socks. The next night it's gone to a new home and Harry finally finds out about Nicolas Flamel on the back of the card of a Chocolate Frog, the inventor of the Philosopher's (or Sorcerer's) Stone.
The next Quidditch match Snape referees though it seems as if he doesn't need to at all, Harry quickly wins the match by catching the Snitch. And then finds himself witnessing a meeting between Snape and Quirrell which leaves him thinking that the Potions Master is bullying their Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. They run into Hagrid a few days later who's in the library looking up dragons of all things and a later trip to his hut reveals the groundskeeper in possession of a Norwegian Ridgeback egg that soon hatches. Though they convince Hagrid that he has to give the dragon up or soon it'll be bigger than his home and they contact Charlie - another one of Ron's brothers - and ask him to take the dragon Norbert.
Harry and Hermione cover the crate with the Invisibility Cloak and carry it to the tallest tower, hiding from Malfoy who gets detention for sneaking around after he finds a note about the dragon. Norbert off safely with Charlie's friends they slip out of the tower and get caught themselves, they left the cloak up in the tower, and get sentenced with detention with Malfoy and Neville who sought to warn them of Malfoy. Their detention is spent in the Forbidden Forest with Hagrid and his cowardly boar-hound named Fang hunting down an injured unicorn to put it out of its misery. Instead Harry meets a few (star-interpreting) centaurs and a dark figure crouched over the unicorn in question, drinking its blood. Unicorn's blood can save one from death but for killing something so pure they're cursed with a half-life.
Exams come up and they have little time to think about anything else but Harry still figures that Hagrid won't have told anyone how to get past Fluffy. Hagrid tells them about the fellow he played against in cards for the dragon egg, lets it slip that the man was interested in Fluffy and that it's easy to take care of once you sooth the dog with music. The trio storm off intent on informing Dumbledore that the stone is going to be stolen but find themselves blocked by their own House's professor and that of Slytherin's. Not to mention the fact that Dumbledore had been called away to the Ministry of Magic for something, so they decide to take care of things themselves - suspecting Snape the entire time - later that night with the Invisibility Cloak. Neville tries to stop them from going but Hermione uses a full-body binding curse on him and they avoid being caught by Peeves to get to the room with Fluffy.
They play a flute to get past the three-headed dog and through the trap door, landing on a pile of Devil's Snare. Hermione gets them out of its clutches with fire and with the next barrier the three of them manage to catch a winged key flying on brooms. It gets them into a room filled with a giant sized board of Wizard's Chest, a game where the pieces move and get semi-destroyed upon being taken by the other side. Ron directs them as they take the places of a few pieces and falls in order to win the game, they find a larger troll in the next room already knocked out and go on. Next is Snape's own trap, a riddle and seven different bottles for them to choose. Hermione sends Harry onward, choosing to take a potion that will allow her to go back and help Ron. Harry goes through the portal and finds himself face to face with one of his teachers, not Snape like he thought but Quirrell, standing in front of the Mirror of Erised.
Quirrell informs Harry that it was he who was trying to get him to fall off his broom and Snape was trying to save him. It was Quirrell who let the mountain troll in on Halloween and Snape was once again the one trying to stop him. Harry finds out that Quirrell was working for Voldemort the entire time, that the Dark Lord was always with him even in the classroom, and turns back to the mirror. It seems as if the Stone was somehow stored within but for some reason Quirrell couldn't get it, a strange voice says to use Harry. But when Harry stands in front of the mirror he lies after he sees his reflection with the stone, saying instead that he's holding the House Cup and shaking hands with Dumbledore.
Again the voice speaks, saying that Harry lies and that he wishes to speak to him, Quirrell tries to dissuade his master but ends up taking off his turban, revealing Voldemort on the back of his head. It was he that hunted the unicorns, drinking their blood, he that needed the Stone to return to a body. When Harry tried to flee with the stone Quirrell grabs him and both of them are hit by almost unbearable pain, Harry his scar and Quirrell his hands. It seems as if neither could stand the other's touch and so when Quirrell makes to grab him again, Harry grabs the Professor's face and then his arm to keep him from using a spell to get rid of Harry. Then he blacks out.
When he comes to it's in the Hospice wing with Dumbledore standing watch over him and finds that both of his friends are fine and well and that the Stone has been destroyed. Quirrell died and Voldemort left him to it and Harry learns why the Dark Lord and his servant couldn't stand to touch him, Harry was protected by his mother's love. And that his father had once saved Professor Snape's life, which was why he was so bitter to young Potter and tried so hard to save him. Dumbledore then leaves to let Hermione and Ron in to see him and he informs his friends of everything and finds that the whole school knows what happened. When Harry leaves the infirmary a few days later for the feast he runs into Hagrid who gives him an album of photos of his parents as an apology gift.
At the feast it's all decorated up in Slytherin's colors seeing as they won the House Cup but it turns out Dumbledore has a few last minute points to give out. Ron gets fifty points for showing Hogwarts the best game of Wizard's Chess in many years, Hermione's calm head in the face of fire gets Gryffindor another fifty points. Harry gets sixty points for "pure nerve and outstanding courage" tying them with Slytherin for first place. But he gives out one more set of points to Neville, ten points for being brave enough to stand up to one's friends, a task that is often harder than standing up to one's enemies. After changing the banners from Slytherin to Gryffindor the feast begins and after everyone boards the train back to their normal lives. And Harry starts the summer with holding back that bit of information that they're not allowed to do magic outside of school, what Dudley doesn't know won't hurt~
The summer spent between Harry's first and second years is miserable like any other time with the Dursley's, only this time his wizarding things are all locked in what was once his bedroom under the stairs. Hedwig is kept in a locked cage and Harry can't complete any of his homework over the summer or have contact with his friends. In fact his twelfth birthday was spent pretending he didn't exist while his uncle entertained a rich builder Vernon was hoping would purchase some drills. Later on that evening during the dinner party Harry finds out exactly why he hadn't received any letters when a House Elf named Dobby shows up in his room just as his uncle's dinner guests arrive. Dobby was trying to keep Harry from returning to Hogwarts for his own safety, every secret he reveals needs a punishment and he's quite noisy about it, disturbing the guests downstairs.
Dobby races out of Harry's room with the young wizard on his tail and Harry finds the House Elf in the kitchen using a Hover Charm to keep his aunt's pudding masterpiece floating in the air. When Dobby asks Harry one more time if he promises to not go to Hogwarts and Harry declines, Dobby lets it drop. After cleaning it up an owl arrives and drops a letter right on one of the dinner guests' head, she runs out screaming, but the letter informs Harry that any further use of magic outside of school (and in the presence of Muggles) will lead to expulsion. Upon hearing this "wonderful" news that just "happened to slip" Harry's mind, Vernon locks Harry into his room. For the next few days they give him food through a cat flap installed on the door and let him out to use the bathroom.
But one night Harry wakes up to find Ron outside of his window in a flying car with his older brothers George and Fred at the wheel. They tie a rope to the bars on Harry's window and pull them free, the twins go in the house to retrieve Harry's trunk while Harry loads a few things in the car. He almost forgets Hedwig who screeches and wakes Vernon, who attempts to pull Harry back in the house, but the Weasley boys pull him in and they all get away. Until they get to The Burrow - the Weasley home - where their mother is waiting all furious about them flying the car and leaving no note. It went on for hours before she turned toward Harry and invited him in for breakfast and he finds out that they would have gotten him if they hadn't heard from him soon.
After breakfast they all go out into the garden - with tips from Gilderoy Lockhart - to degnome it, which is basically spinning them around in a circle by their ankles and letting them fly. Mr. Weasley arrives soon after and instead of disciplining his kids he asks them how the car flew, having tinkered with it to make it fly himself. Harry spends the rest of the summer holidays with the Weasley family and the letters for their books come all too soon. But they find they have a boatload of books to buy from this Gilderoy Lockhart fellow, expensive books, and figure the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is a witch who's a fan of the fellow. Time comes to go to Diagon Alley to buy school supplies and Harry gets there by a new way, Floo Powder.
One throws some powder into a fireplace, steps in and yells the destination out clearly into the green fire that then takes you on a dizzying journey through other fireplaces attached to the network and spits you out at your own destination. However, Harry's first attempt takes him instead to a shop not at all familiar. Yet as he's trying to exit the shop, Draco Malfoy and his father show up, trying to get rid of things due to the Ministry beginning to raid wizarding households to get rid of dark objects. Harry is hiding inside a cabinet that almost gets opened by a curious Malfoy when his father calls him away, they leave and so does Harry a few minutes later, running into Hagrid.
The half-giant takes Harry back to Diagon Alley proper, having found himself in Knockturn Alley instead, and they run into Hermione whom was awaiting the arrival of Harry and the Weasley clan. Once everyone is together they head to Gringotts to get the currency that wizards use and then split up with plans to meet up at the bookshop to get all of their books at once. They get one of the books required for their lessons and then get in the long line to get Gilderoy Lockhart's books - apparently he's doing a signing of his autobiography Magical Me - and Harry (unfortunately) gets spotted by the other famous wizard. This, of course, is a photo op as well as the opportunity to announce that Lockhart will be taking over the Dark Arts teaching post, and Harry gets Magical Me as well as all of Lockhart's works.
Harry hands those over to Ginny saying that he'll buy his own set. Draco Malfoy and his father show up to pick on and bully both Harry and the Weasley's poverty, during this exchange Mr. Malfoy picks up one of Ginny's books and comments on it before dropping it back in the cauldron with the rest. They get back to The Burrow via Floo Powder and then await anxiously September 1st so that they can get on Hogwarts Express and get to the school. Only it's not as easy as that for Ron and Harry, they find the passage to get to platform 9 3/4 is blocked off for them for some reason and resort to taking the Ford Anglia - the car they used to bust Harry out of the Dursley's - to fly to Hogwarts, following the train. It's a fun trip at first but then gets quite boring and they're eager to reach the school grounds.
It seems that the car is eager to stop as well and just as they reach the school the Ford finally reaches its limits and drop into the Whomping Willow. Ron's wand breaks on impact as they try to get the car free of the injured and angry tree, however once free the Ford spits out their trunks and Hedwig's cage as well as the boys before peeling out for the Forbidden Forest. They find they've missed the Sorting by peering in the Great Hall windows and Snape then finds them, taking them to his office down in the dungeons. They were seen but they aren't expelled and nor are there points taken from Gryffindor, however both receive detentions. Once in their House's common room they get a round of applause from everyone who thought it was a brilliant way to arrive.
It's not funny the next morning when they receive a Howler, a red envelope that when opened yells at very loud decibles and then bursts into flames, the same happens even if you don't open it. In Herbology they start working with Mandrakes, useful plants for helping de-petrify people but horrible to work with and grow. At lunch Harry finds that there's a first year whom is fanboy, Colin Creevey, who wants a picture of Harry and gets one of him and the appearing Lockhart. In the famous wizard's class he first quizzes them on himself and then releases Cornish pixies into the classroom, they of course terrorize the class and Lockhart leave Harry, Ron, and Hermione to clean them up. Harry then spends the next couple of days avoiding both Lockhart - who thinks he's trying to get publicity - and Colin.
The first Quidditch practice comes around with an unwanted surprise, after Wood's droning on and on about tactics anyway, Slytherin's team coming on the field with permission to use it from Snape, a fleet of Nimbus Two Thousand and Ones with thanks to their new Seeker's father, Draco Malfoy. Malfoy ends up calling Hermione a "mudblood" at which Ron pulls his broken wand out and his curse backfires, making Ron the one who throws up slugs instead of Malfoy. They head out to Hagrid's who also has a dislike of the know-it-all Lockhart and tells the two about the "dirty" name that Hermione was called: a foul name for Muggle-born, aka non-magical parents. When they get back to the school Harry and Ron are pulled apart for their detentions, Ron has to polish all the silver trophies under Filch and Harry has to help Lockhart with his fanletters.
During his very boring detention Harry starts to hear whispers from inside the wall asking him to come closer so that it can kill him, but Lockhart couldn't hear it at all. Harry puts this from his mind as Halloween approaches and Harry gets in trouble for bringing mud in from Quidditch practice with Filch. But when the caretaker is writing Harry up there's a disturbance and while he's gone Harry finds a letter about "Squibs" and learning magic, Filch refrains from writing Harry up so long as he doesn't tell anyone. Nick was the one who made the distraction and invites the group of three to his 500th Deathday party on Halloween. A party that gets pretty much ruined by the Headless Hunt who crash the party and the trio soon leave with plans to go see if the normal Hogwarts feast is still going on.
But Harry hears the voice within the walls again and his friends don't, so he starts to follow the voices and finds himself staring at a petrified Mrs. Norris under a blood written note. "THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS HAS BEEN OPENED. ENEMIES OF THE HEIR, BEWARE." Before they can leave what seems like the whole school crowds around them and reads the signs themselves. Filch thinks it's Harry who's done it seeing as he knows that the caretaker is a Squib - someone born into a wizard family with no magic - but the teachers say it's beyond a second year. They get away without a punishment and it seems the entire school is buzzing and wanting to know about this mysterious Chamber of Secrets and so during their History of Magic class they ask their ghost professor about it. He tells them that while it's more of a myth it is supposed to be a secret room designed by Salazar Slytherin to be opened only by his heir and clean the school of those mudbloods unworthy of learning at the school. It makes Harry think back on when the Sorting Hat mentioned that he could be great in Slytherin, if he went that route.
Going back to the scene of Mrs. Norris' Petrification they notice that the spiders are fleeing the school and sneak into the girls bathroom where Moaning Myrtle died, of course they get caught by Percy as they head out and lose points but the broken bathroom gives them the perfect place to brew a Polyjuice Potion. The potion itself is part of a plan to sneak into the Slytherin common room and ask Malfoy a few questions without him suspecting things. They figure he's behind something because of his pureblood family and he keeps going about saying all the mudbloods are next. However the required book is in the restricted section and they borrow Lockhart's absentmindedness combined with his love of self get them the book. But when they get it they find the potion takes a month to brew and has some rare-ish ingredients that only Snape has in his stores. It's not on Harry's mind often the next day as he's on the Quidditch field facing Slytherin and their faster brooms as well as a Bludger that seems to have it out for him and gives him a broken arm at the end of the match, still having caught the Snitch. Lockhart tries to fix this himself but debones Harry's entire arm which he regrows overnight with Skele-Gro.
Apparently it was Dobby behind the Bludger, the House Elf's thinking that if Harry was hurt he'd go back home and leave Hogwarts. But thanks to his conversation with Dobby, Harry finds out that there is a Chamber of Secrets and it's been opened before but he can't find out who the heir is because Dumbledore comes into the infirmary with another Petrified victim, Colin Creevey. They decide to go on with the Polyjuice potion and next Potions class Harry uses a firework as a distraction while Hermione goes into Snape's stores to get the few ingredients they can't get themselves. Now all they had to do was wait for Christmas holidays and an opportunity to get hair from three Slytherins, Crabbe and Goyle and a female for Hermione.
Before the holidays there's a start of a Dueling Club headed by none other than Gilderoy Lockhart himself, he and Professor Snape demonstrate a few things and then pair up the students. Harry gets paired with Malfoy, Ron with Seamus, and Hermione with a Slytherin girl named Millicent Bulstrode; this of course is a disaster what with the rife between Harry and Malfoy, Ron's broken wand, and Hermione being held in a headlock by Millicent. In order to teach blocking they use Harry and Malfoy for a demonstration and Malfoy calls out a huge snake, which in trying to get rid of it Lockhart ends up sending it into a wall, angering the snake. It starts to go after Justin Finch-Fletchley ready to bite when Harry tells it to "Leave him alone" only it doesn't come out in English but Parselmouth, the language of snakes that Salazar Slytherin was famous for. And now makes Harry a suspect for being the heir of the Chamber of Secrets.
Everyone in the school starts talking about Harry behind his back about him being the heir and Petrifying all those poor people. While leaving one such confrontation about the issue he runs into Hagrid who's holding a dead rooster, something has been killing them. Harry leaves him and finds himself face to face with Petrified Nearly Headless Nick and Justin Finch-Fletchley with spiders fleeing the scene, Peeves the Poltergeist takes to alerting everyone that there's been another attack while Harry is still there. Professor McGonagall takes Harry to Dumbledore's office where while waiting he spots the Sorting Hat and puts it back on, inquiring as to if it sorted him into the right house. The Hat replies that it stands by what it said, that he could have done great in Slytherin and Harry pulls it off before it says more. Harry also gets to meet Fawkes the Phoenix whom is looking dreadful and bursts into flames, becoming reborn into an ugly chick when Dumbledore arrives.
The Headmaster tells him - and Hagrid, whom bursts in saying it couldn't have been Harry - that he doesn't believe that it's Harry behind the petrifying. Yet simply asks if Harry has anything he wants to tell Dumbledore, after thinking about the voices Harry says no and leaves. But the attack alienates Harry even more, the Weasley twins are picking on him in fun, and Malfoy is disgusted with the thought of Harry Potter being the heir. Christmas holidays come and practically everyone leaves the school except for Malfoy, his goons, the trio and the rest of the Weasley brood (as well as a few other brave students). Christmas day arrives and with it the announcement that the potion is ready, so that evening after the feast Harry and Ron capture Crabbe and Goyle rather simply and get their shoes, leaving the oafs in a closet after nabbing hair for the potion. Hermione already had hers from her tussle with Millicent during Dueling club.
Taking the potion itself was disgusting, the transformation painful, but it was a success for both Ron and Harry. Hermione refuses to come out of her stall and sends them on to get answers from Malfoy seeing as the potion only lasts an hour. While trying to find the Slytherin common room they run into Percy whom is running around down there, but "thankfully" Malfoy comes to his "goons" rescue. Down in the common room they sit through Malfoy's picking on Ron's father and Colin's fanboying of Harry and that he wished he knew who the heir was, he'd help them. So it's not him obviously but mentions that the last person probably is still at Azkaban - a wizard prison. And just after that the potion wears off so they race back to Myrtle's bathroom to find that Hermione had used a cat's hair thinking it was Millicent's and the potion isn't meant for animals. She spends the rest of the holidays and some of the new term in the infirmary recovering from this mishap.
They visit her and bring her homework and find as they return to their common room that Moaning Myrtle has flooded the hallway again, so they creep in to see what's upset her this time. Apparently someone's thrown a book at her, T.M. Riddle's diary that's nothing but blank pages, Harry pockets it after Ron mentions that Riddle had won an award for special services, remembering because it was one of the things Filch had him polish. Hermione isn't able to bring any "invisible words" to the surface seeing as the diary is from fifty years ago when the Chamber of Secrets first opened but no words come to light. Harry is still being avoided by everyone as the Mandrakes continue to mature so they can be used to help those that are petrified, Lockhart assumes the Chamber is locked up again and tries to cheer everyone up.
This happens on Valentine's Day when he decides to have dwarfs deliver Valentines all day long throughout lessons and in the halls. Even Harry gets one in the form of a singing telegram sort of way though he tries to escape it especially in front of Malfoy but is caught when things tumble out of his bag. Malfoy grabs Riddle's diary but Harry manages to disarm him of it and he and Ron go on to class, ignoring Ginny's "poem" for him. But instead of being ink covered like the rest of his books the diary remained clean, leading Harry to writing in it later that evening. He finds that it's an enchanted diary that writes back to him, Tom Riddle's diary, Tom shows Harry a memory from his past when the Chamber of Secrets was first opened and who opened it. It was Hagrid and apparently the beast killing people - or at least petrifying them - was a giant spider.
They fall back into mundane things like picking classes for next semester, students in the school stop avoiding Harry, and the next Quidditch match comes up. But as Harry goes into his room to get ready he finds his things have been ransacked and Riddle's diary is missing, and it could have only been done by a Gryffindor. The voice talks again when they're eating breakfast before the match and Hermione gets an idea, abandoning the two to research something in the library. They're about to start the Quidditch match - Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff - when Professor McGonagall declares that the match is cancelled and pulls Harry and Ron with her to the infirmary. There are two more petrified victims, a Ravenclaw named Penelope Clearwater and Hermione. The two decide it's time to meet Hagrid and ask his side of the story and slip out past all the patrols to his hut later that night.
But before they get to ask Hagrid anything they're interrupted by Dumbledore and Cornelius Fudge - Minister of Magic - who says that Hagrid has to go with him to Azkaban seeing as his previous record is being held against him. Lucius Malfoy appears with an Order of Suspension against Dumbledore signed by all the governors whom have been blackmailed or scared into signing it. Dumbledore reluctantly agrees to leave his position temporarily but says his students will still remain loyal to him and he will have only truly left when there are none remaining. Hagrid goes out with Fudge to go to Azkaban but gives Ron and Harry one clue, to follow the spiders if they want answers. However this is hard to do seeing as they're now shepherded from class to class by their teachers but those still holding grudges against Harry apologize upon Hermione being one of those petrified.
They slip out with the cloak again to Hagrid's hut that night and take Fang with them as they slip out into the Forbidden Forest after the spiders. In the forest they find the Ford Anglia all covered in dirt and twigs, its become sort of wild and blends in with the forest now, but they don't have much time to think about the car as all three (not the car) are grabbed by giant spiders. They carry the boys and the dog to a clearing where the spiders call out for Aragog, they tell the blind spider that they're friends of Hagrid's and the half-giant sent them out to meet Aragog. They tell him what's been going on in the school and ask if it was Aragog whom was doing the killing back then, he denies it and says he only saw a cupboard during his time at Hogwarts with Hagrid. But they find out whatever it is in the castle is ancient and the spiders dislike it so with the new information they try to leave but Aragog says they'll become supper for his children.
The Ford bursts in this fight and they all climb in to escape the spiders, once at the edge of the forest they get out and the car returns. The boys put Fang back in the hut and return to their dorms and Harry has a sleepy thought about the one girl that was murdered those fifty years ago and was found in a bathroom: Moaning Myrtle. Before they can act on this they get reminded of exams that are coming up despite the circumstances around the school, but the Mandrakes are now mature enough to de-petrify those that have been victims all year long. Giving their shepherd Lockhart the slip in the halls one afternoon they start making their way to Myrtle's bathroom when Professor McGonagall stops them, so they say they're going to visit Hermione. Which they end up doing to avoid being checked up on and found liars and find a page from a library book in Hermione's hand.
After retrieving the page they find it mentions a Basilisk, a king of serpents, with deadly and venomous fangs, a muderous stare of instant death for those that look upon it. Spiders flee before it and it only flees itself upon the fatal crowing of a rooster. And under it all is Hermione's familiar scrawl with a single word: pipes. All of it explains why no one has died because they've viewed the Basilisk through something else instead of a direct glance and how Harry has been hearing it all year long because it's moving through the pipes. They go to the teacher's staffroom to tell Professor McGonagall but get stopped by an annoucement for all students to go back to their dorms, they find out that Ginny Weasley - Ron's younger sister - has been taken by the Basilisk. The teachers elect Lockhart to go and retrieve her from the monster who goes off to his room to get ready, and the students prepare to get sent back home upon the morrow.
They decide to tell Lockhart where the Chamber is so he can rescue Ginny and go to his office to find him in the midst of packing up, planning to flee the school. He reveals to them that his entire career as a famous wizard is due to Memory Charms, he gets people to tell him their stories of amazing feats and erases their memories of the events. Angered they disarm Lockhart before he can do the same to them and they march him to Myrtle's bathroom, asking the ghost how she died. Myrtle tells them she was crying and heard a boy in the bathroom, she opened the door to tell him to find his own bathroom when she died, the last thing she recalled seeing were big yellow eyes. They find the sink that was being stood in front of at the time and Harry gets it to open with Parselmouth, pushing Lockhart in first Harry follows and then Ron. They find themselves miles under the school and come face to face with a giant snake skin.
Lockhart takes the opportunity to seize a wand and tries to obliviate their memories but it's Ron's wand that he grabbed and it backfires on the Professor and rock comes tumbling down, separating Ron and Lockhart from Harry. He continues on his own to a huge chamber where he finds Ginny whom is fading very fast from some kind of spell. A memory of Tom Riddle appears and informs Harry of the passings of the school year, that it was him controlling Ginny through the diary that she poured her heart into to kill the roosters, open the chamber, wrote the messages, set the serpent on all those people. She throws it away only to steal it back when she sees Harry has it, fearing that Tom would tell him all that she had written to the memory. Tom also tells him that fifty years ago he framed Hagrid for killing that girl and got the half-giant expelled.
The memory also reveals himself to be who Voldemort was before he ever took up the name, rearranging the letters of his name "Tom Marvolo Riddle" to read "I am Lord Voldemort", calling himself the greatest sorcerer in the world. But Harry denies this, calling Dumbledore the greatest instead and doing so calls Fawkes to his side, the phoenix dropping the Sorting Hat next to him. Tom calls the Basilisk out to kill Harry but Fawkes distracts the giant snake long enough so that he can get to the Sorting Hat. Harry puts it on only to get hit on the head with something rather hard and pulls a ruby embedded sword from it, a weapon that Harry uses to stab through the roof of the Basilisk's mouth as it goes to kill him. A fang manages to pierce Harry's arm but he's determined to make sure the giant snake is dead but in doing so he's now dying himself.
Riddle finds this amusing and watches as Fawkes even cries over Harry, not realizing that the phoenix's tears are healing him from the venom. When he realizes it's too late and Fawkes moves away to bring Harry Riddle's diary, before the memory can stop him Harry grabs the Basilisk's fang and stabs the diary. Tom Riddle's memory is defeated and Ginny wakes from her almost deadly sleep perfectly fine, they reunite with Ron at the rockslide and find that Lockhart has managed to lose his entire memory. Fawkes flies them all out of the pipe and they return to the school proper and leave the bathroom to go to Professor McGonagall's office with Lockhart in tow. Ginny is reunited with her parents, Fawkes with Dumbledore and Harry tells them everything that's happened that year, including the voices. Ginny goes to the hospital wing for a check up while Harry and Ron remain behind to be dealt with by Dumbledore.
They both receive Special Service awards and two hundred points each for the Gryffindor house before Ron is sent to take amnesiac Lockhart to the infirmary as well. Dumbledore tells Harry that only a true Gryffindor could have pulled Godric Gryffindor's sword from the Sorting Hat and that the Parseltongue is only part of Voldemort's powers that he unknowingly put in Harry. Dumbledore then writes a note to get Hagrid back from Azkaban and an advertisement for a new Dark Arts teacher while he sends Harry down for some well deserved food and rest. But before he can Lucius Malfoy storms into the office with Dobby in tow, demanding to know why Dumbledore is back if the governors suspended him. It seems they all saw reason when Ginny was kidnapped by the monster and that they've now caught the culprit behind it all. Dumbledore tells him that it was Tom Riddle via the diary that Ginny had somehow gotten and Harry watches Dobby as the House Elf points at the diary and Mr. Malfoy in turn and then punches himself in punishment.
Harry then understands who gave it to the redheaded Weasley and accuses the pureblood wizard in front of Dumbledore, saying that when he picked up Ginny's book back in Diagon Alley he slipped the diary in with the rest of her books. Affronted Lucius Malfoy leaves and Harry asks Dumbledore if he can give the diary back to him before he leaves, the Headmaster gives Harry the useless diary and takes off one of his socks. Harry pushes it into the wizard's hands in the hall with his sewer-soiled sock on top of it, Lucius throws the sock to the side and when he commands Dobby to come with him does he realize what's happened. Malfoy has given Dobby a sock by mistake and the House Elf is now free of his servitude to the Malfoy family and he lunges at Harry but is sent back by the House Elf who threatens his former master and says Lucius won't touch Harry.
Harry goes down to a feast, news that exams are cancelled, the House Cup going to Gryffindor for a second year, and Hagrid returning. And the best thing of all, well at least for Fred and George, is finding out that Ginny wanted to tell them that Percy had gotten himself a girlfriend, Penelope Clearwater. Harry gives Ron his phone number and asks him to call since Mr. Weasley knows how to work the telephones and heads back to his Muggle life for the summer between his second and third years at Hogwarts.

hereRoleplay Sample - Log:
Harry stared up at the trees in the biodome, they weren't really great and imposing things like the trees in the Forbidden Forest. More like ones they passed on the Hogwarts Express and barely stood over twenty feet tall, perfectly climbable for a boy of thirteen. Grabbing a branch Harry began to pull himself up on the bottom branches of what appeared to be a holly tree and avoided being scraped by the "thorns" on the leaves as he climbed higher on the branches. He wanted to make his own wand - ignoring the fact that he didn't know how one was made (he'd figure that out later or if Hermione showed up she'd know) - and his own was made out of this same sort of tree.
After procuring an eleven inch branch of holly the problem would be to somehow come across a phoenix, it was his preferred choice but Harry would even be happy with any of the other cores. There was, after all, a unicorn (of sorts) in the Facility with them and while she wasn't quite like the ones from home there was a possibility that it would still work. That was his thinking anyway, and at least he had thought it out that far this time instead of just making things work in his favor as he went.
As a wizard, even as a student, he felt better - safer - with having a wand on his person even if it wasn't the one that he had purchased at Ollivander's three years ago. And it would probably keep him from accidentally making things happen when he got upset, like when he made the food bar machine suddenly start shooting its contents at people in the cafeteria. He hadn't meant it, of course, but he had gotten rather mad at something stupid in hindsight. So here he was, The Boy Who Lived, up in a holly tree being scratched up as he attempted to grab the perfect branch just barely out of reach.
"Come on, just a little bit further," fingers wiggled as he stretched as far as he could, as if that would get the branch to move closer on its own. But finally Harry managed to wrap his fingers around it as the branch he was sitting on began to crack from the weight it couldn't bare much longer. "Yes!" Quickly now he moved off the branch before more damage could be done, now to ask a certain pony for some hair.
Roleplay Sample - Journal: [Hey there, Facility! Have a picture of an ear.]
Hello? Information? Is there anyone there?
[The accent of the teenaged boy is that of one from England and is getting very frustrated.]
Hello!
[He pulls the Faciliberry away from his ear, giving everyone a view of some unruly black hair and green eyes behind glasses.]
If it's broken then why is it lighting up? [He looks around the room.] Doesn't look like any place that Voldemort might throw me or even the Ministry. Aunt Petunia would love this place, so clean...
[He sighs and tosses the 'berry on the bed, the feed timing out soon after.]
Questions? Comments? Crazed and creative statements? Those go here. orz I tried not to be as detailed this time but...yeah. I also put up a warning that if accepted I'll be attempting to update Harry at least once every few months until he's at the end of his seventh year. One year at a time, enough time to adjust and grow, and back home again. OR all at once if it's not allowed.
