V-Day

Usually this time of year, zoos and aquaria are falling over themselves to post ridiculous little gems in the media about mating animals and animals celebrating V-Day. I love that stuff! But lately instead zoos are all death and despair and aquaria are all finance issues. All I ( Read more... )

It is a good word. And for the moment, aquaria seem to be less contentious than zoos.

Perhaps aquaria will slowly eclipse zoos in our culture as the place to see lifeforms, ushering in a veritable age of aquaria.

Did you hear that KXLU (88.9?) will be playing some unreleased Crue stuff from Shout at the Devil at noon today? And wasn't Elk great? Happy V-Day to you, too!

...And yet, no one can yet tell us the definitive story of who Saint Valentine was, and why we've got a holiday named after him.

Yes. Thanks, Hallmark!

But you know, I really should look at this in a positive manner. Since no one really knows who or what Saint Valentine was, then maybe I should just write my own story of who he was and what he did and why he was killed for it, and then make money off of it!

Good idea! But sadly you'd probably have to make it all cutesy in order to sell to the mass population. Or, you could make it really dark and gory and play to the V-Day hatas! :)

You'll be happy to know that the Sacramento Zoo is having not one but *TWO* Valentine's Day special events:

One of these includes dinner, champagne (yuck!), and a look at the "wilder" side of the zoo. "Adults Only" means it should be exactly what you were looking for.

See how great Sacramento is?
