I agree 100%. If a romance hasn't got the psychology believable, it flops in my book. But I also think part of the advantage to stories as answers on Quora or elsewhere (in addition to the language used; the anecdotal is usually 'lower brow') has to be the relatability that allows people to better 'test' the answer against their own experiences. Somebody provides you with an answer, and it might sound good (or not), but if they provide you with an example, that's when your own experience kicks in and you can better compare it to what you've observed to be true.
