So the 100th episode was quite a blast and we saw some BAMF!Cas, then followed with two Cas-free and sense-free episodes which made me as disappointed as ever that I had to post to TWOP and told the writers what morons they were. And then 521 turned out to be so much fun and excitement, so I figured 'OK, they jumped the shark. It happened for the former seasons. I get it. I'll hold on with my hope.' And I rejected any possible spoiler for the finale, for fuck's sake was supposed to be the finale for the whole Supernatural. AND THIS IS WHAT THEY GAVE ME (when i gave up my chance to print my thesis just to watch it, and the deadline is TODAY).
Yesterday noon when making lunch, i was pondering why the last episode's story is not created by Kripke (yeah of course i checked it from wiki). Because this is his show, he is the God in this universe, and he always wrote the finale or even directed it. But since his five-season SPN has been renewed into a sixth season and he's not gonna be there, I'm sure there's some story behind it. Either he couldn't come out of a brilliant finale story (which has never happened to KRIPKE), or he had to use this story and he thought it's a crap and he didn't want anything to do with it, so it's like 'I didn't come up with this. Don't blame me~ *hands off*'. And now I totally trust my second guess which is a disaster for him or for any one of us who has been expecting this for supposedly FIVE years.
So let's come down to some details (*SPOILERS*):
1. There's no tension or excitement in a FINALE. Think about the finale for season 1 to 4, they always had something urgent and always in a hurry to solve it there and there'd be a little cliffhanger for the next season. And this time, it's the Apocalypse. What's with all the goodbye and heart-to-heart? Dean and Sam, Sam and Lucifer, Lucifer and Michael - three major talks last minutes; Sam and Cas, Dean and Cas, Dean and Cas - sorry I lost count how many minor talks. So when it entered the third ads period which was almost 30 minutes after the openning - nothing happened!!! So they hang on with their stupid and out-of-no-where idea to lock down Lucifer with the horsemen's rings which Lucifer was already aware of (for god's sake he's an archangel, even Cas can read minds; even if he hadn't known before, how could he not know when they stood in front of him?! He would be a dumbass if he couldn't figure that out). And the talk between Lucifer and Michael, i think, should have happened a million time millena ago. Now? Again? And finally a little heart-to-heart between Dean and Sam saved the world, BWAHAHA! I can list tons of fanfics ending in a way millions-times more brilliant and dramatic. What a shame, writers.
2. The acting, oh, *facepalm*. I'd very much like to thank Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins and Mark Pellegrino for saving this episode with their stunning-as-always acting, though most of the time I guess they didn't know what they were acting, esp. for Jensen. The scene when Sam!Lucifer talked to Sam in the mirror was actually pretty good imo. Actually i told my fellow gals, he improved much from the Sam!lucifer in 504. But the talk with Michael, it's just like a talk between Sam and Adam. They both suck at playing archangels. Mark!lucifer was a bratty boy all the time but people still could see him as the all-might dick archangel. Matt!Michael was one of the biggest rewards for us this season, he's smug with some mercy, he's powerful, and he knew what he's doing. Angels had to fight in a human vessel was a dumb2death idea alread, and when you can't find the right person to play the angels, you lose. Misha, Mark, the guy played Raphael, and Matt were the four that gave us the most angelic depictions. Kurt Fuller is OK. Jared and Julie, meh. Jake, guh, i don't even want to talk about his Michael now.
3. In the first 1/3 of the season, the Winchesters were busy doing nothing and they got Jo and Ellen killed by trying the Colt. Then for another 1/3 they were busy doing some other nothing, and almost got Cas killed. Then Gabriel was killed for nothing and they figured they could lock down Lucifer with the rings in one episode. And they got two rings in two episodes, and Sam came up with the idea to be Lucifer's condom. Now they just made it and even locked Michael down. And Chuck is the GOD! Do they know how to balance? I was like 'WUT?' 'What the fuck?' all the time in the finale. Not to mention the last 5 episodes were OOC all the way. It's frustrating as hell. :( Last episode Cas regained his faith in the brothers; this episode he would rather be drunk and live through the last day. Consistency, writers! It's just as disturbing as my thesis or even more.
After this season ended in such a bull, my first reaction is 'WTF just happened?'. I always knew I'd need to fix the ending in my brain, as I ship Dean/Cas and that's not the offical CP. But now IDEK what to fix! What's more, Cas is an archangel now, I'm sure there'll be tons of top!Cas fics burst out, which will not be my favorite setting. And as much a Deangirl as I am, I still have to watch season 6. This hellatus will be more hellatus than any hellatus. If I don't let all the above out, I will explode. Sucker! *headdesk*
